the court case is everywhere!! All across the front page of our local paper, and then again on page 3!! I had a call from them yesterday at 8.30 am wanting quotes from me about the sentence so I waffled for a bit!
Interesting now as they are asking for comments from the public about the sentence.

I hope you told them the sentence was an insult Benson21, and that the driver could easily have killed you all. I'm not condoning the student riots, but compare this to what was handed down to Charlie Gilmore and the law is absolutely an ass.
If you link to the paper I'd be happy to add comments.

What court case? - sorry I haven't been reading your posts so no idea what this thread is about

Hi Benson, I can't see the story on the link and the website doesn't seem that easy to navigate. Could you please pull up the story in your browser then copy and paste that link into a post? Thanks.

Let's hope it's brings the injustice to a wider audience and it gets something done about it!! but that probably just wishful thinking knowing how things work here.

its on www.kentonline.co.uk, Go onto where I live and into ashford, online its there, just the front page. unfortunately you cant get into the 3rd page without signing up and them charging you!!!

I think that I've just seen this story on HHO on the home page.

How truly awful! There is no justice in this country. You get the book thrown at you for little things, but nothing happens to those that do big things!

No, if you're talking about the story that's showing today then that's a different case. Although similarly that driver doesn't seem to have been penalised enough in my opinion either.

The site wants me to register so can;t see a lot, but am I right in thinking that the driver that killed two horses and hospitalised you for god knows how long, got 200 hours community service?

Its outrageous. Does not in any way reflect the seriousnessof his offence.

and now what to do??? The local tv news wants an interview now!!!

Take a deep breath and DO IT! Get the message across that horses and riders have as much right to use the roads, they don't "bounce", they are unpredictable, pass wide and slow, etc, etc. So sorry for your loss, and horrific experience. (Oh, and tell the whole of the South East that the driver is a complete knob!)

This!
This a fantastic opportunity to tell drivers HOW to pass horses on the road, and send out the message that we riders will not be bullied off the road!

I am still so angry about this for you hun x

I have thought about and also contacted Tammy, who was Bensons owner, and we have decided not to do the TV thing. If it was just me I would, but I have got to consider Tammys feelings in this, after all benson was her horse in the end.

I was going to post earlier about doing press interviews. Even if you don't go on TV, consider a news article in a paper.
If it makes one person slow down.....if you want any guidance, PM me x
