Delicia has been really good of late, and i managed to jinx this by saying to my friend how i think she has turned a corner...bad mistake!
Today, i took delicia back to our old yard for a show. I was going to do two prelim HC and an elementary. Delicia decided against this. In fact, she wasnt too keen on the idea of me riding her. We got to the yard and delicia was on her toes, snorting. She recognised the environement and started to really misbehave. She started head shaking and stamping her feet. I tried to sooth her and get her round and soft. She was like a tnak, no respect for my aids and running from my led aids, over sensitive all the time. I started one test but tbh i got to the first canter after being towed about the arena and thought **** it lol and retired. I was not going to force the issue, this isnt why i was competing. I was there to teach and train delicia, and brute force will only get her coming back at me. I am glad i retired. I went back into the wamr up arena, delicia reared and bolted off with me
.
This is exactly what i feared she would do. I was scared, i wont lie. The very reason why i had dee in the double for so long was because of her bolting with me in a test. I managed to turn her in a tight circle and get the contorl back, but i jumped off her. I knew i needed to ride her though it, but i am sorry, i wasnt going to risk myself doing so.
Luckily, i had taken my double with me (its stored in my lorry). I changed her bridle and got back on her. Instantly she was more controlable.
I was very careful to have veyr little pressure on her curb rein. I rode her almot purely off the snaffle rein, and she seemed to respect my riding more. I was supposed to go into my second prelim test but i withdrew. The judge kindly let me into the big arena to school and train delicia, an offer i gladly took. I am so glad i did, she was as good as gold.
After 5-6 minutes i left the arena and was standing chatting to a few people i knew at the yard when delicia started acting up again. She went into a high speed revere and kicked out at people. I was mortified and quickly rode her away from the situation. There is no rhyme nor reason for her to have done that except pure temper at standing still. She hasnt exhibited behvaiour like this since leaving the yard.
I am very diappointed in her, she has been going great and no only did she play up and make herself lok a fool, but i felt like a fool returning back there, and have dee play up.
*sighs*
Oh well, i suppose you cant have them all.
A few piccis
delicia's plaits
Showing off her new HKM rug
After coming back home, butter wouldnt melt!
So anyone fancy a horse burger? Very reasonable price....
