does anyone actually buy those bags of dehydrated carrot flakes that I've just seen being advertised?

No. As a horsey person who likes throwing money around I go to my local organic farm and handpick carrots every morning.

In answer to your question have you got a link to the advert? seems quite interesting

Some of the irch full liveries at my yard do! Why they can't just feed normal carrots which I'm sure must be much cheaper I don't know. Some of them also buy those special cereal bars for horses.

What a crazy idea! Who first hought 'chopping this carrot is taking ages, instead why dont I make dried carrot flakes that you can re-hydrate, that sounds like a much better plan'!?

I used to feed them to a very old pony at my last job. She only had 6 teeth and none of them met. I soaked them for ages in lots of water so they where very soft and she could just swollow them. It was the only way she could have carrots unless i stood there for ages cutting them up into tiny pieces.

They've been out for years, and they do freeze dried apple pieces too. I am surprised at how many people actually use them. Mine wouldn't touch reconstitued carrots anyhow, and so much cheaper to buy a net bag.

Haven't they been around in the Health Food shops for ever?

What's wrong with chucking a handful of carrots (or apples come to think of it) in a blender and mixing that in with water if that's what it takes to get a horse to drink?

I wouldn't even buy dehydrated carrots for US! Ugh.

Ah well, if I thought I could sell them myself, then sell them I would, who cares who buys them or what they do with them if it brings the pennies in? I wouldn't.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I was always told that you should only feed carrots whole to avoid choking - surely for the busy horse owner its much quicker to chuck um in as they come out of the bag ?

Although I guess on the plus side they would not freeze in this weather !

If Monkeybum thinks she's getting any of these - she's sadly mistaken!!! She's a horsey person who loves chucking Doubl_choc-Lab's money around!!! Back to the kitchen girl and get chopping.
