I am getting totally obsessed with our neighbours dog, which I have posted before about, being left shut up outside for 14 hours a day and not being exercised. I have tried to involve RSPCA but as dog has water, shelter and food they wont help.
I have got to the stage I hate coming home because I know the poor thing is so lonely and unloved. I know I need to get a grip, but finding it so hard. Latest is that a friend told me that a few months ago he saw the owner who said he wanted gthe breeder to take dog back as he didnt have time for it as he had changed his job. Excuse me, chap works from home, and whats wrong with weekends. All over Christmas theyve been around but dog still shut up outside. Im beginning to think that its me thats potty or taking my dog out and having it indoors, as at least three near neighbours have dogs that dont get out for walks, although they do go indoors and have the run of the garden, even these people have expressed horror about the way this other dog is being treated. How can I learn to ignore it and get my life back ? I know Im a sad sad person !

Is there any way you can find out who the breeder is and contact them. If they know how the dog is being kept they might take it back. Or failing that, if he really doesn't want to keep it can you offer to hekp him rehome it.

I know just how you feel. Years ago we had neighbours who kept their poor little dog chained up outside in all weather. We actually took her into our house one bonfire night because she was absolutely petrified. Owners were out so we shoved a note through their letter box telling them where she was. It used to really upset me, and I was very tempted to steal her. However, sadly, she had a pyometra and needless to say by the time anyone noticed she was ill it was too late. In a way was probably a blessing.

I sympathise too as I was in a similar position and ended up walking this poor unfortunate dog every day for 3 years until I moved, then felt even worse as I was abandoning it! If you did offer to rehome it they could possibly get another one and then what? If you have a dog yourself could you ask to 'borrow' next doors to keep yours company on walks etc?

We had someone who stayed in the flat above us and their outside garden area was above our bathroom (old house converted into upstairs and downstairs flat). They used to leave their dog out in this little area all the time. One time they went away and left it so we broke into their flat to give it water. RSPCA wouldn't or couldn't do anything. Worse followed when they got a kitten that they shoved out their with it but it kept getting down into our garden. Our GSD wouldn't have hurt it but they didn't know that. We complained to them several times especially one night we kept it overnight because they'd gone out and left it. Eventually we had enough and when it came to us again and they were out for the day we took it to the RSPCA and told them we'd found it as a stray and couldn't keep it. We know they asked all the neighbours if they'd seen the kitten when they returned but never had the nerve to ask us. Very naughty of us I know but I never had trouble sleeping !
