I know its a bit pathetic but...

I know some people would find those scary, but not on Ron - he'll happily jump a BE100 course, or 5bar gates, or hedges, or, well, anything, so it just seemed silly to jump 75cm just cos we hadn't gone SJ for a few months!

Lucy was the most amazing jumping pony i know. I swear she would have jumped a house if i asked her to. When i was younger, jumping all the time and alot braver i used to showjump her 3ft6 and when i used to drag hunt we used to jump 5ft hedges  (she was only 13.2hh) But for the last few years i compleatly lost my nerve, i just wasn't jumping enough I just poped the odd thing out hunting (If noone was watching or i had had a few stirropcups/ someones hip flask :p ;) :D) and did small WHP classes 2ft max. Lucy could still jump much bigger but i was always cuffed with just getting round the course without me messing it up never mind getting a ribbon and i haddn't showjumped her for years.
I had said i was going to take her this summer, but sadly it was not to be :(

I know what you mean. I don't have problems out hunting, but I'm much more scared of show jumps! I think it comes from one or two nasty falls that came about when I was reschooling Ron. He was very nervous about show jumps and if he thought he couldn't do it, or there wasn't enough room between 2 fences he'd duck out and I'd come off. On one ocassion I landed on my feet and actually broke my heel (not that I found out for 5 weeks!), on another the pair of us went through a big oxer and I landed on about 4 poles, 2 of which were under him! on a third he threw a tantrum about going away from the gate over a big oxer as the first part of a double, got a smack for it, did a stupid jump and then realised he couldn't do the second one and stopped. I went flying but kept hold of the reins, and in doing so broke two fingers...

he is better now though, and I just need to find a way to stop him getting so over excited!!

Bless him glad he's better now and good on you for carrying on with the jumping despite those falls. :D
Atleast you have an excuse. Lucy was amazing she wasn't naughty at all infact she was beond amazing she would realy look after me. Her refusels where done from 3 miles away from the jump and if i had been committed she would have jumped but she knew if she jumped i would have probably fallen off :o so she would just slowly go back to a walk just before the jump or very nicely go round it (so it wasn't realy a runout).
I'll never forget out hunting once i was having a very mad day and was jumping  I was telling this lady about Lucy and i could see that "yer right of course your pony does that" look on her face. Next thing we came to was a jump into the woods it was solid but i thought i'd give it a go. As i approached it i realised how big it was (about 3ft9) well i freaked and compleatly froze. Lucy knew if she jumped it i would have fallen off but if she refused i would have also fallen off. There was no way round the jump :( So Lucy stoped for a split second just before the jump to throw me forwards then she took off carefully scooping me over the jump and we both landed safely on the other side. I turned round to see everyone open mouthed just staring at us. The lady came over and said "what an amazing pony you have there, I didn't believe she would do that, I thought you where going to fall off" :D :D :D
God i owe that pony so much. :(

thanks SM... he was good, even though I was wishing I'd taken the double bridle and not the snaffle! he positively carted me around the 85cm. we were double clear in the 75cm, and had 2 down in the jump off of the 85cm mostly due to the fact that I had just about lost the ability to steer!
