...specifically the make a noise campaign about long distance transport of horses to slaughter in Europe. I had a letter through my box today and this is for those people who don't think the campaign is doing anything much...
165,000 live horses were transported long distance to slaughter annually in appalling conditions in 2001
In 2005 individual partitions were introduced, thanks to WHW work
In 2007 the Make a Noise campaign was launched to reduce journey times for horses. In 2009 the number of horses travelled long distance to slaughter was reduced to 100,000
WHW now currently aim to establish finite journey times by 2013, and to have ended long distance transport for horses to slaughter in Europe by 2015.
