I'm enjoying the 'where were the parents?', why were they so close to that fence comments too much. Granted if you were certain a horse was heading in your direction you might move but they don't always tend to let you know!

(also tipped onto bonnet not roof off landy but roof sounds more impressive :D)

a little unsure which class would require a tweed and a pink HS1 atm :p.
 
That must have been really scarey to watch, but probably over in a few seconds. Glad the child and rider were ok though. Love the expression of the woman sitting next to them, bet she didn't spill her drink either.

was also most amused by the expression. Would it be cruel to blow that up and keep it for when I'm feeling glum?
 
Can't believe the ignorance of some of those comments!

For example:

"Country fair". Another ludicrous relic that should have been consigned to the dustbin of history long ago. This would never have happened if those people had been doing something normal like watching TV or playing on their iPads. Pathetic."

Jeeez! Yep and this is why we have a nation with so many obese children.
 
if we put down every horse who ever bolted and was 'dangerous' very few would be left! people are soooo ridiculous! no one was hurt so why did it even make the news? love the ladies face in the chair
 
I nearly spat my lunch out when I saw the woman and her drink picture hilarious.

Love the comment the rider should be checking on the baby not clinging on to her reins.

I'm thinking the horse didn't bolt really since the rider has been chucked off (losing her silk enroute) and hung onto the reins. Oh dear. Bet the rider feels very very embarrassed! Story for the child to tell its grandchildren :o
 
Ah I did wonder if it might have been a hunt relay type of thing- but then couldn't imagine them in a pink hat either!

Thanks for the fuller story :), I shall continue to chuckle quietly in the office at the comments. :D
 
If I lived in Worthing I would look out for Phil and make sure my horse sunk its teeth into Phil's tyres before he had time to read the Highway Code, go through red traffic lights and knock someone over on the pavement. So glad I have the morning off, never had such a good chuckle!
 
well I have on occasion threatened to return Frank to the wild (while pointing out the rough looking ponies on the hills ;) )
 
:rolleyes:Wow, can't decide if everyone was lucky or unlucky. Thankfully, toddler, rider and the gin and tonic survived. Guessing the parents of the baby were very nearby but out of the camera shot.

I wonder if the commenter who says 'kill the horse and its owner' will be arrested for issuing a death threat or is that just for Twitter ?:rolleyes:

Does anyone remember Anna-Maria Reike's incredible ride at Aston-Le-Walls, when her bit broke and her horse jumped a couple of cars, bikes and a tent at terrifying speed while she hung on in there ?
 
pushy horsey people! they push the horses to the limit in a crowded place! So annoying when you see the horses on the main road with traffic and some stupid girl on the horse. The horse has no eye-guard and as long as the so-called 'horse lover' is happy, she does not care if the horse is.

What's an 'eye guard'?
 
It does make me sad to see that so many people sit so close to the arenas. Many people forget horses are flight animals and when in panic or following an accident, a human handler has no control. Unfortunately it's the poor riders and their insurance that have to suffer peoples stupidity.

ETA; Think an eye guard is blinkers?
 
The daily fail make me laugh and the comments - one word "findus" and the lady saying the marks were from the horse being beaten with whips and spurs lol, where do their readers come from. Also had to chuckle at the lady holding the drinks face, will keep me going all day.

Cracking fall, you couldn't make it up :D:D, also loving the woman resolutely holding onto her drink with half a ton of horse and a rider doing acrobatics just yards from her. Hilarious :D!
 
The way the Daily Fail journos write their stories you'd think that none of them had ever been trained in how to research, write and produce a story. The worst bit is that loads of people think that these numbskulls actually know what they are talking about . . . and believe them.

Very glad to know that all were OK - specially the G&T - there was no way she was putting that down!!!.

Changing the subject very slightly - I've wondered for quite a while why ringside parking is still allowed. Our local agricultural association allows it around their rings at the annual show, and I remember once seeing a horse slide on the long wet grass in the main ring and slide right under the bumper of a 4x4. Again apart from a few bruises horse and rider were unharmed, but it could have been a really nasty incident - as could the one at the weekend. Surely the 'members' as they are at our local show wouldn't mind having say a 5 ft 'channel' between the cars and the ring. Ringside parking is also a pain as if they are round all 4 sides, as I have seen at some shows, the poor paying public on foot can't get to see much of the action once picnics are spread between the vehicles.
