I know it's the daily fail but...

I haven't lived in the UK for many years now and it looks so strange to see just a little bit of rope separating spectators from the horses. I don't even sit that close to our arenas over here and they're all fenced properly. Almost an accident waiting to happen I think?

not sure really what difference a real fence would have made most horses in the uk are very aware of ropes as many have electric fenced fields and have a huge respect for a rope. The near accident I saw was a fell or dales pony cant remember which that ran off with its rider jumping the perimeter hedge at a county show dumping its rider as it went a solid hedge about 3ft high and wide didnt stop that one where a rope may well have done
Oh and sliding into a solid fence would likely have done everyone even more damage
 
we only have ropes whatever the level though- unless a show at a permanent showground - certainly a fair few advanced eventers to be seen going into crowds too.
