So 2 out of the 5 ducks at my yard have died over the last week.

The first one was walking badly and kept falling over and trying to pull herself along with her wings. She then started flapping and jumping in the air, sat down, neck flopped and she went. The second saw my umbrella and all remaining 4 ran inside the barn. She then did the same flapping and jumping and flopped and died. A third duck is walking the same a duck1 and i would like to know whats happening?

Can anyone give me a quick anwser or point me to where i could find one? :)

Thanks

I dont know - Sorry.
But others might if you include Age, Breed?
Are they females males?
Have you had them for ages, are they new ones, - Have new ones been introduced?
Are they laying normally???

Im not sure of there breed but there 2/3 years old.
All females, there is a male but does not appear to be affected
Not new and have been at current yard for over a year. No new ones introduced either.
All 4 females were laying but occasionally getting an egg without a shell on.

Maybe Botulism?
Botulism
Symptoms: Loss of muscular control of legs, wings and neck - hence the term limberneck. Birds are unable to swallow.
Cause: Toxins produced by bacteria (Clostridia) in decaying animal and vegetable waste. The toxins cause the problem.
Treatment: Avoid problems by keeping ducks out of muddy/dirty areas, and stagnant pools, especially in hot weather. The bacteria multiply rapidly in warmer temperatures in anaerobic conditions (where oxygen is excluded). Give affected birds fresh drinking water. If necessary, introduce water into the mouth and throat with a syringe (no needle). A crop tube could be used with the advice of a vet. Add Epsom salts (magnesium sulphate, available from the High Street Chemist) to the water. This is an old remedy which is still used. Recommended amounts vary from 1 tablespoon in one cup of water to 1 ounce per 50 fluid oz ( two and a half pints) of water.
