He has almost always been perfect , but I have always had paranoia and fear. Today I was relaxed and VERY calm! I had a BLAST!

That is what it's all about people! This is how we ENJOY them! I have been missing that with him and it is well and truly MY fault, not his.

he is the star...I am the numpty

My perfect horse with the unmotivated less than confident jockey!

I was watching my 13 yr old on him tonight and realised that I wish I had that youthful invincinble attitude still. She always does so well as I did as a youngster. Why do we get more fear as wel get older?

We understand mortality more perhaps?

Why do some have this paranoia and others do not?

Awww thats lovely .

I think when we have childern we think more of what would happen to them if something happened us , Me personally I dont do half the things I used to do when it comes to jumping or riding the more "skittish " type horse .

But now that I have had the boys I think all the time what if this what if that .

Its great that you have found that bit of confidence again xx

I agree so much about or kids having an influence on our carefullness! when I became a mother I felt everything change in an insatnt as far as my outlook on life is concerned!

I have had this convo with my aunt a million times and she firmly believes that children have a hand in us feeling this way

Why does having kids have to stop you, i have 3 the youngist being 7yrs and i have never stopped doing any of the things i did before kids. I don't worry about me at all but what i do worry about is are my kids safe when they go out, are they going to be safe on the school bus and all the rest that comes with it. Me i am still as mad as ever.

Know the feeling! I used to be incredibley nervous and still can be a little, all I used to think about is what could go wrong and about falling off!
I then started schooling a bit more so this gave me something to concentrate on and rode a younger horse that I couldn't back down to, I had a good lesson last nite where my instructor pointed out that if I start to look and worry about things my horse could spook at then she will know this and to concentrate on setting the pace as it were.

I think you realise that you don't bounce as well once you're a bit older! I seem far more aware of what could go wrong than I used to be, which p*sses me off cos it holds me back from doing different things. I don't think having my kids has done this, I think it's just life experiences. The woman who loans my mare is 2 years older than me, with 3 kids and she is the complete opposite!! Not much fazes her or puts her off doing what she wants to do.

I think age also gives you the (sometimes awful) ability to see the future consequences. many younger people tend to live for the moment with no serious forethought to the future. I know I was that way. The older we get I think we do see mortality differently. I also know that my body is less forgiving now . I am still young though with quite a sense of adventure!

The only comparison I can make is (and it's a silly one
wink.gif
)

When I was younger I would drink any drink handed to me....wine, hard stuff, beer, sometimes all together!

I was silly and would drink far too much.

Now that I am older I have lerned how much I detest being ill and having a hangover so my limit is mainly ONLY miller lights and not that many of them WITH FOOD!

Oh dear, figures the only example I could make would be having to do with alcohol

I also used to ride my bike with no hands on the handle bars:p

not anymore! lol

I know a lot of Mums who have become more cautious after having children. Its the fact you have someone else to be responsible for I think. Also in my case the realisation that I don't bounce as well and as a single Mum if I was unable to drive/work etc. we would really be in the s**t!
