So the head cold from hell has turned to shivery achy grumpy curl up in bed with hot ribena and paracetemol.

My lovely mummy phoned me at 9.00 9.10 and 9.20 this morning (she's 86) to see how I was feeling and to check I was going to the doctor. The troubloe is apparently if you have a cold for more than 3 days you should see your doctor (I think thats probably when you are 86). I love her to pieces but I told her I had spoken to the doctor and he said stay in bed and take paracetemol.

Well he would have done if I had wasted his time. NHSDIRECT website says that and the 10 days arent up yet.

Im sure you will still go to heaven but not yet eh? its only a cold ha ha

Feel better soon

Its only a little white lie....your Mum will sleep better tonight not worrying about you and you've checked the nhs direct so no harm done...hope you feel better soon xx

oh I'm sure you will! Just think, if you had phoned the doctor that's pretty much what he would have said! Hope you feel better soon xx

Thats nothing, when I did my shoulder in I neglected to mention it to my mum and then told her I was going away for a few days (not actually a lie) when I went into hospital to have surgery to fix it! It was just easier - otherwise she would have wanted to come and "look after me" and I would have ended up murdering her so would go to hell anyway!

Oh I am so glad you said that. Many years ago I fractured my leg and was plastered to the hip. My OH deserted me to my mums ministrations. I got asked regularly if I had been properly wasnt allowed to lock the bathroom door and had to throw my crutches regularly against a radiator to train her out of the habit of rushing into the loo with every noise she heard.

Dont you just love mums!!

Last time I saw her she mentioned how lovely it would be to come and stay in my little cottage in the country for a few days - I went into a total panic - she would just not understand things like saddles being stored in the spare room and rugs and numnah's drying over the doors! I managed to deter her my assuring her that my garden was not dog proof for her little rat of a dog and as I was at work and she does not drive she would be totally stranded all day and its 3 miles to the nearest bus stop!

I love her to bits - just only in small doses!

I hear what yo're saying. Whenever mine comes to visit (she never stays now) I'll clean the house military-style over the course of a week and she'll come in and say "You must be busy, you haven't had a chance to tidy up!" Fortunately she doesn't stay anymore as the hubster told her we have bats nesting in the thatch. Apparently she's terrified of bats

I too may be going to hell for lying to my mum (whom I get one very well with, mostly as I don't see her everyday

When she drove past my livery yard (where I've loaned and shared horses for years) she she spotted Piper pony in the field, whom I bought last month. A few days later she mentioned him, asking who he belonged too. I told her he was another liverys............
