I'm more a lurker on here, but you guys will know exactly what I'm going through right now.

Yesterday I had to make the horrible decision to have my girly pts, I am totally heatbroken and really don't know how I'm going to cope.

She hadn't been right for the past two weeks, had went from a healthy weight to basicaly skin and bone in a week. I had blood test done and all came back normal. She was eating and drinking fine, was bright and alert in herself just the horrible weightloss. She was refered to The Bush in Edinburgh, I went to check on her and found he down in the box unable to get up. Vet was phoned, Bush was phoned I had two vets and seven vet nurses trying to help her. But she just couldn't and didn't want to get up, she still wanted to eat though! She gave up, I saw it in her eyes and just knew I had to do what was right for her, so she went peacfully at home, with me right beside her.

She was my first horse, I had only had her 2 1/2 years, she meant the world to me. I am totally and utterly lost without her. She was a one in a million horse and will be missed.

Sleep tight my beautiful girl I'll love you forever. xx

How absolutely tragic for you, and what a shock. :(

I'm so sorry for your loss. Try to comfort yourself that you did the right and brave thing by your girl and her suffering was short.

((hugs))

I'm really sorry for your loss. I dread the day I have to make that decision. Well done you for doing right by her.

I am so very sorry for your loss, my heart does go out to you at this very hard time. You had such a short time together but she was loved very much in that time and prob more than some horses get in a lifetime. You have done the best for her till the end and did not let her suffer and it takes a very brave caring person to do that and that is you.Good Night and God Bless dear girl rest in peace x

Well done for making that decision and I know its not easy as I was in that position twice last year, especially like yourself when you have no idea what was really wrong.

**RIP** sweet horse and hugs to you OP xx

I am so sorry for your loss. You did the only thing a loving, caring owner can do. It's such a horrible decision to make, but you found the courage to do the right thing, and if she could, your girl would thank you. I hope you can find peace soon. Your girl was beautiful. Big (((hugs))). RIP gorgeous girl x

Thank you everyone. I know I did the right thing by Bally and I'm so pleased I could make that decision for her, as heartbreaking as it is. It was all so sudden, she was fine in the morning, I found her down about half 1 and she was gone by 4, it all happened so quickly.

I just feel so lost, my whole routine, life everything has changed I don't even know how you begin to get over this.

She is having a pm, so I will find out some answers but vets think its been some kind of tumor, that came on so fast there would of been nothing I could of done for her.

You must feel like the bottom has fallen out of your world. Im so so sorry. What a beautiful horse she was. I lost mine in January so totally know what you are going through. Take care x

How awful for you, I am deeply sorry for your loss.
I lost my beautiful 4 year old to a tumor last year, symptoms sound similar.
My heart goes out to you at this heart breaking time.

Beautiful girl. I am so sorry for your loss. I had to have one of my favourite mares PTS a few weeks ago and I am still finding it difficult to come to terms that she's actually gone so I understand exactly where you are at right now. It gets better with time but that's not much consolation when it's still very raw. Sorry :(

So very sorry for you loss, my thoughts are with you at this terrible time. I went through this with my girl not long ago so understand how you're feeling. Cherish the wonderful memories you have of your time together, look after yourself.
RIP sweet girly xx

So sorry for your loss, such a shock, but you did the last kind thing that you could do for her.. Been there myself and know how it rips your heart out R.I.P. and run free until you meet again ..

I'm so sorry for your loss I understand your pain I sadly lost my horse of a lifetime almost 4 yrs ago and I still think of him everyday but now have a new best friend to love n care and she is brill took me an age to get a new friend.
I promise the pain eases and gets overtaken with the pleasurable memories you both had together please allow yourself time to grieve too and not to beat yourself up.
We do the best for our animals and the last act of kindness we give them is to kiss them goodnight and free them from pain bless your heart
Sending lots of hugs and thoughts to you
RIP x

I am so sorry to read this and really feel for you. She looked a lovely mare such a shock to lose her so quickly. At least she was well cared for and did not suffer a long illness.

RIPx

So sorry to hear of your loss. Some years ago my three year old filly started to lose weight suddenly. The vets were investigating but then we found her dead in the field. Her post mortem showed she had a massive malignant tumour in her abdomen. Even if this had been discovered we wouldn't have been able to save her.

Having had to have my first home bred pts some years ago I can only say that you will never forget but with time it will become less raw.
