I have this little chap for sale-
http://www.horsemart.co.uk/advert/3_yrs_9_mths_14_2_hh_dark_bay_connemara_surrey/75589

I got him in may with a really good friend to break and produce, we backed him in the summer and hacked him, schooled him and introduced him to poles. He has been nothing short of an angel, never put a foot out of line, been at all backy or done anything stupid, hacked out alone form day one etc.

So K went back to uni in october and we decided that colin should be turned away, as he was a little bum high and not really strong enough for full work, and too nice to be spoilt or made sour. We have turned him away in a 12 acre field since end sept. where he has been happy as larry, checked every day but nothing done with him work wise, worn rug so not cold and fat as a bullock. We decided to readvertise him this week after having no interest before in him and I have way too many sports horse youngsters who need working to worry about a small hairy pony who is a bit steady and slow. So on to horsemart he went....

Yesterday i had a lady from Essex call me about him enquiring if he would be suitable for her daughter to bring on (he would as so sensible), not only did she make me call her back "because she was on a pay as you go phone" for over an hour, she then said she wanted to see him tomorrow and couldn't do any other day. Our field is about a 5 min lorry trip from the yard, so i went to collect him in the pouring rain, loaded and brought him home. I got on him last night for the first time in 2 motnhs with tack on and he was as good as gold, very easy and rode away very nicely.

Today they turned up an hour late (without calling to let me know which is just RUDE.) and then proceeded to poke hima bout in the stable, firstly saying he was older as she said "he has hollows above his eyes" WTF! i told her I wished he was older but sadly not, and to check his teeth, which she then was clearly clueless about. She then made me pick all his feet out (he really hasn't been touched in a couple of months and just took it like a lamb) and touch his sheath?! After I explained that he's a bit funny with having his ears touched she proceeded to poke him round the head for ten minutes to try and touch them as he sort of looked at her as though she was some sort of pony eating monster. I tacked him up, explaining that as a trade yard, we cant got telling lies about our horses as we have a business to run, and they all have a 7 day warentee anyway so there is very little point in telling lies as the horses just come back. Got on him, rode him in to the indoor school were he proceeded to go well, in an outline in walk and trot (canter a bit rusty) then the big digger went up the side of the indoor (outside) making a real noise as he was trotting past and he shied away from the noise, she then asked why he did his and I explained that he's only a baby, been in the indoor once before and a 5 ton machine just went by making abig noise. She then said he wasn't safe and at this point I LOST IT. I asked her what she thought a pony that wasn't yet 4 should be doing and why the hell she was buying one anyway, to which she replied I was clearly a "horse abuser with a nasty temper" and that "I was a nasty person trying to make a quick buck out of a poor pony"! I'm sorry, but i have horses for sale worth ten times the amount he's for sale for, he was meant to be a fun project, not a money making scheme! He's deff not abused, is fat as a house and very well cared for! To which I told her to F off and never come back and chased her off the yard while riding the poor youngster, who took it all in his stride.

I can't believe there are people out there like this! I'm now going to get a reputation from half of essex as some sort of pony abusing maniac, but TBH I really did just snap. She really needed to purchase a rocking horse or something on wheels. People like this shouldn't be able to own horses or have children full stop.

I'm sorry, but I'm so wound up still from this I have a headache, I don't think I can take another person like her ever again. She was banging on about bad experiences looking for ponies before she even came on the phone, and now I completely understand why. I am here to help, happy to advise and all of my ponies are well described, but when someone turns up trying to pick holes in you and basically calling you a liar I just can't take it! AHHHHHHHHGHHHHHHHH!

And breathe.

It must be something in the air!

She's been, she's gone, there might be some flak, but in the great scheme of things...

Have a hug and a hot choccy, and there's a punch bag just to the left if you fancy a go

How fustrating!! I swear, sometimes i think there should be a legal requirement to have some sort of basic horse knowledge quilification before you can buy horses (shame it couldnt be enforced

!!). Some people....

The woman sounds like a proper nut
shocked.gif
just thank your lucky stars she didn't want to buy him!!
Would have loved to see the little lad, with a raging woman on his back chasing a tw*t off the yard
tongue.gif
, another string to his bow, shame he's not big enough to be a police horse
wink.gif

Hope you find him a nice home soon, he looks lovely

Aaawww, sorry you had to put up with this. There's too many of 'em out there.

Sadly I had to share a yard with someone like this up til 6 months ago, and she was like it when SELLING her horse!!!!!

After I heard the one about the county show he was placed 3rd in when he hadn't left the field since she bought him I started avoiding the yard when prospective owners were about. I felt sorry for them lol!!!!

At least you gave her some exercise as she left the yard, and she went without your lovely pony, who doesn't need to be owned by her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay to chasing stupid people, sounds like great sport. I must try it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And breathe... looks around nervously wondering where Mrs Mozart and her hot choccy is......

Sorry, you had such a crap time
At least your not going to have a problem with her coming back a week after buying the ponio and claiming all sorts of nonsense about him.....you spotted the foolish one early
what sort of 4 year old wouldnt feel worried by a hugh piece of machinery they had never seen before hes only a baby!

And can I just add, lovely lovely horses and nice ads too, if i were buying I'd be on my way yesterday!!!

Credit to you

I think some people are just out for a jolly sometimes.
I think he sounds and looks like a saint so I dont think you will have any problems selling him.
If he was 16 hands plus I would be asking for him to be shipped to Lincs.

Nice one, kick ar*e!

fair play to you! they would only have become the customers from hell and best you didnt even reach that stage. the pony wont hurt in the field for the winter and should fetch more and to more suitable people then. you did the right thing. have a pat on the back, half the people looking to buy are not safe to be let out, let alone try horses especially young ones, then they proceed to slate you when the problems arise from their own incompetance and lack of knowledge.

oh dear! He's a lovely looking chap and if i hadn't just brought my girl I'd probably be interested in him.....although she was approx the same price and has hunted/sj etc.

good luck finding him a home, sure it won't be a problem!

The thing is, novices are fine, as long as they ask questions and ask for help. I have a problem with people like this who come along with a terrible attitude towards you before they even get there as you are "trade" or on a prof. yard or set up. I wouldn't have sold him to them anyway, as they clearly didn't know a horses tail from forelock, and my poor little Colin wants a nice person who will love him and not poke at his ears! I've brought him in now, friends brother put some shoes on him and he's had a little clip so we will now work him gently till he's sold or someone extra nice comes along who wants to loan him for a bit before buying him.

That's crazy! I can't believe people can be that rude. It sounds like your pony had a lucky escape. He looks lovely so fingers crossed you'll find him a nice home.

What a handsome lad, I was looking at the dun today!

If you ever want to give away that dun, send me a PM!

With regards to this timewaster - don't dwell on it, the right person will come along.

Excuse me everybody. I am just going outside to hide all the sharp objects I can find.I might even have to hide the keys to the digger.

Lunatic and total numpty.

Look on the bright side you spotted it and no way were you allowing her to have him anyway.

Some people just make stoopid into an artform.

I now have a wonderful mental image of you ranting and chasing this silly bint across the yard on a small hairy youngster who was cool enough to take it. Priceless
grin.gif

What a rude woman - the image of you and Colin chasing her off the yard has made me smile. Try sending her round to poke about my horse's head - he hates his ears touched too and wouldn't be quite so polite about telling her as Colin
tongue.gif

Just to add he looks a lovely little chap and I'm sure you'll find a really nice home for him.

Oh dear - what a nightmare for you...I just don't know what is wrong with some people and they expect the moon and more. If I were looking I would snap up, he looks a kind, genuine pony - have you tried contacting the pony club they may know of someone who is looking?

I think I would have snapped too

And just for the record... if I was allowed 2 ponies I would be buying Colin!!! LOVE HIM!!!

Just what I thought, he looks lovely, now I wonder if I could squeeze a 3rd pony in, do you think OH would notice?
If only he'd been about a few weeks ago when we were looking.

Am sure someone else will turn up who is far nicer and more suited to Colin, think I'd have said the same but perhaps more rude!

What a nightmare!

I would have Colin if I had the money he is super scrummy and looks as if he would make a lovely RC type. Hope you don't get anymore timewasters
frown.gif

drives me mad, timewasters, or idiots, i got asked this year if would inc tack in the price, a normal question but i was selling a foal!

be looks very nice though and a complete saint!

What a horrible and idiotic woman. Love that you chased her out of the yard on Colin! Brilliant! Hope you find a nice home for him soon, he looks like a super little pony, good luck!

Good for you girl, I wish more owners selling their animals would tell it straight to people who haven't an idea. I still think horses are still a status symbol to some people with more money than sense.
But he does sound a delight for some concerning person to bring on. Best of luck

Just seen this - he is lovely wish I could afford another
grin.gif
At least she didnt buy him - he obviously deserves better
