I love living in Yorkshire because.... (pics)

Yorkshire is amazing, grew up here. Moved to berks when i was 9 & then have recently come back up after finishing uni!

I live near Stamford Bridge! Yorkshire is amazing, moving back after 6 years away at Uni then working dwn south I moved back from London last year and it was the best decision ever. :)

Ooo Walrus where abouts are you in relation to Stamford Bridge? Im north & slightly east of pocklington in a tiny village/hamlet!

Thats not fair - you are making me home sick.
I love yorkshire - i was born in Thirsk (well in Northallerton hospital but lived in thirsk).
When my gran and uncle Peter were alive they lived out near stamford bridge / pocklington - the riding was lovely.
Its truely Gods country!

Where is this lovely riding near pocklington? Its seems to be avoiding me!! lol!

I'm East Yorkshire but love it too, not too many bridleways near us but it's still great.

Where about are you in East Yorks?

Would be great to find some people local to me!

Hope this works, sorry if the pictures are massive:)

I love living in Yorkshire because this is the view from my lounge window :D

I live on North Yorks coast. Yesterday I hacked my horse, alone, to the beach. We rode along, the sea, rain, the big sky, and I wouldn't swap it for the world. Some days we gallop on the moors. The bridleways are spectacular.
Every day I pinch myself to check that I am not dreaming, I am so lucky to live here. I can see the sea from my kitchen window and the moors from my living room. I know my horse is truly happy here, and so am I.

I'm West Yorks/ Lancs borders at the foot of the moors with gorgeous off road hacking all round. We're opening a B&B/holiday cottage next summer that can also welcome horses and dogs if anyone non-Yorkshire is tempted by the pictures on this thread...

Is this summer 2011 ? I am determined to have long weekend away this summer with my firend. Are you opening early?

Noblesteed where are you based?

You guys are making me so home sick. I lived in North Yorkshire most of my life, born in Leeds then moved to NYM aged about 4. Moved down south for uni and stayed here (live with boyfriend).

I miss home so much. I lived in the middle of Fylingdales for a large chunk of my life then moved down to Fylingthorpe/Robin Hoods Bay. My mum and sisters and brothers still live in Bay.

I was spoilt for hacking as a child and my mum used to let me go off on my own for miles across the moors (on a very trusted pony). And the beaches are amazing. Wish I had some photos with me to post.

It really is the most beautiful county. :)

not just me then... I used to (and still do) hack for miles over the moors. I had a lovely hack back from hunting one day, we'd met at Hawnby Moor Gate (I'd got a lift there) and hunted over Snilesworth moor, and when I turned for home he knew where he was and trotted on for home, totally ignoring the field behind him. It took less time to do that than to hack back to the box and drive home! and the view you get over scugdale as you come over the top from Snilesworth is wonderful. (the reverse of my original pics).

I love Yorkshire!!!
I would never move from here again. I'm in Richmond now but grew up on a farm in Arkendale/Knaresborough, then Harrogate and Beckwithshaw area and when I was posted to Cyprus I was so so home sick. On one visit home flying in to Yeadon Airport, I picked up the hire car and unwound all the windows to inhale the 'cow smell' all the way home to Harrogate. I would never leave through choice!

Ahhh N. Yorks moors and Hambleton Hills! Sigh. I grew up 5 miles from Thirsk in the Hambleton Hills. The Cleveland way passes by my childhood home. Beautiful area.
