Well we went to a country fair on Monday took the dogs in the pouring rain - them wearing their waterproof jackets us in ours too!!!
grin.gif

Finn has had a tendency to pull when on the lead... when I say pull.. imagine 9 months of excitable 52kg (8.2stone) dog pulling you arm off!!
blush.gif
I have had blisters from holding onto his lead so tight before now!!!
crazy.gif

Welllllll he was an angel - walked like a true gentleman - didn't pull.. had the odd "ohhhh I want to see that" moment - but when I said "NO" and he listened... YAY!!

I think my baby is growing up!! *sniffs*

Do you think the boys were tired after their adventure?

LOVE this one... nawwwww

YAY glad you cracked his pulling
grin.gif
. you must have been bonkers setting out int he peeing rain [well if it was anything like down ere].

I remember when Fin was smaller than Tinks, and now he is using Tinks as a mini pillow LOL!

I have a pulling mission of my very own to sort out next weekend

[/ QUOTE ]Isn't he just - he still has some silly puppy moments but that is to be expected!! Ickle cutie!!!

How are his eyes?

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah - looking a bit better - vet is still considering operating on the second eye again - she is going to call next week. They really aren't as red and agressive anymore.

Chick how tall does Ki stand?

right, have just measured him (not easy cos he finds this very exciting and wriggles like a maggot.) I'm actually suprised cos he measures slightly over 30" to the point just infront of the start of his ridge. He was weighed recently and is just over 8 stone. So he and Finn are about the same size at the moment (just wish Ki would grow up and start behaving on the lead
frown.gif
have to say he has got pretty bad lately, time for another crash course
smirk.gif
)

[/ QUOTE ]Ohhhh well Finn was measured the week before last at 29.5" but his back end has shot up another inch so I should imagine he is going to be over 30" like Ki....

Well I was deteremined not to use a Halti on my beasty.. so the choke chain defo helped and I rarely needed to bring it into action!! Also sweeties helped too... but most of all the recall helped.. I've been calling him back to me (with the aid of treats) when he's been at the yard playing with the other dogs... and he's been coming... we walked round the big field last night (12acres) and he stuck next to me the WHOLE time whilst Tinker b**gered off for 1/2hr and the staffie stuck to finn!!
smile.gif

Is Ki protective of you? I sat on the bench swing in the garden the other night and the staffie tried to sit next to me... Finn was NOT happy about this and told him so!!!
blush.gif

He did the same at the show when a lab came near - gave a warning growl (followed by a slap on the head from me though!!
tongue.gif
)

They look shattered the pair of them! The last piccie is lovely.

I'm sure you're glad you've nipped the pulling in the bud. That, along with whinging are the worst manners a dog can have I think!

We went to a game fair on Sunday, but only took the lab as my wee shnauzer doesn't cope well with crowds.

[/ QUOTE ]Ugh I hate the whinging - Tinker does that actually - until he is shouted at!!!! Bad dog!!! ... We just ignore them if they start and they soon give up!!

I rarely use the halti anymore, I find he is best on a thin slip lead especially if I make sure I keep it high up on his neck, I think he is just loosing the plot recently cos of all the lovely lady smells
crazy.gif
His recall is ok, a little selective at times and he doesn't always take the most direct route lol. I always have a pocket full of treats.

No, he's not very protective of me, but is a little over the kids. When I park the pushchair up down at the yard he lies next to it and "stays guard" bless him - unless a "lady" walks past
smirk.gif
(someone may be saying bye bye to his nads soon).

How are you getting on with the new diet. Am thinking of changing Ki to the Burns feed - have you ever tried this or heard anything about it, good or bad??

[/ QUOTE ]LMAO!! - Yes admittedly it's not always the first 'here' that he comes too!!
blush.gif
but he is good as he comes charging back!!! it's 80% effective - but there are times that he just does his thang!! LOL!!

I said to OH about taking him to training classes - his words "I don't know why you want to - what else do you need to achieve - he's a good boy - it's puppyness and he'll grow out of it" .... WE WILL SEE!!

[/ QUOTE ]Excellent - they both LOVE the Raw diet... Finn goes mad when I open the freezer these days... they both had a rabbit lastnight - OMG finn thought he was in heaven!! LOL!!

The LOVE it - deof the best thing I've done.. I tried to give finn some tinned puppy food the other morning - he was having NONE of it!!! LOL!!

No not tried Burns but ALOT of people rate it and say it's one of the closest 'processed' diets to natural feeding - very few additives etc.

Kibob, my wee dog eats the Burns feed and she loves it. She looks much better for it. She eats it as it has low protein levels as she is not allowed too much protein in her diet.

Thanks for that GinaB. Your wee girl certainly does look in lovely condition on it. Think I will give it a try.

O bless such nice pics!
grin.gif
My sis uses a halti on Reeko and he is fab on his little walks.
smile.gif
Although he's def not as heavy as Finn, hes lost a bit of weight recently due to the house upset (hes so sensitive) any ideas how to get weight back on him?? What do you feed?

Sorry dont mean to take over the post!!

[/ QUOTE ]Really - what was her reason for using one? Did he pull? could he not be trained not too?

[/ QUOTE ]House upset? must ahve missed that one!!

Finn is now on a natural diet of Raw food!! E.G raw chicken legs/wings/thighs/brest/mince, lamb mince, pork ribs, whole rabbits, eggs, veggies, and oil, oats, pasta, rice, lentils.

grin.gif

[ QUOTE ]

grin.gif

Not too sure about the reason behind the halti thing I just walk him in whatever Im given...
confused.gif

Her water tank burst and flooded the entire house. They were technically homeless for a few weeks and living with various members of the family and I think it upset Reeko and hes lost some weight. They are now in rented until their house is fixed. Ill pass on what you feed Finn to see if it helps him. Poor boy. Thanks for the info.
