I have had Archie for about 6 years now,. we bought him as a 2 year old. I had completly lost my confidence and decided I never wanted to ride again!! We decided that we would break him to drive, which we did and drove him for a couple of years.

My Dad and a friend then broke him to ride, and I have been riding him ever since

Mainly hacking and sponsored rides and this season hunting.

Then last summer we stared tackling jumping.....and in the last 6 months fallen off him 3 times all through jumping him!

Once on a pleasure Ride, Once hunting and once in my first jumping lesson

First 2 falls were due to him jumping me out saddle as he jumps everything 3ft bigger than he needs too!! And the last one was him trying it on, he slammed the breaks on - I jumped the jump - he didnt!!

Have spent all jumping season going around jumps as I know when I jump I usually end up on the floor lol!! So decided to get myself some lessons!!

Had my second one today, and Archie was a star!! He didn't jump anything bigger than he needed too and only stopped once - but there was a filler under the jump and he has never seen a filler in his life!! So was very scary!! Am on cloud 9 we did a little course and he was an angel!! I love my little coblet so much!! We have taught each other so much!! I love him, love him, love him!!!

Sorry for the very self indulgent post - but so happy that our lesson went so well

Cream cake if you got this far

Glad you got your confidence back and your lesson went well, its so nice when things click into place and they realise the jumps are ok to go over and at a sensible height too

Diablos Gold: There great cobs, everyone should have one!

PesanutButter: He is getting lots of polos and kisses and cuddles.

Wimpalot: your get there, just takes time!!

Picolenicole: Hehe that is why I never want anything bigger Arch is 14.2, he is close to the ground and I land on my bum or feet lol!

Cobs are much under-rated and are brilliant, capable, flexible and loving horses!

I have a tricolour gypsy vanner type cob and he's just a huge hoot - cheeky and always pushing his luck.

Glad you love him so much. Cobs are really under-rated - they can do practically anything. I love my little boy, who is a 14.3hh, 17 year old black mw cob too. Probaly more than my hubby and daughter - goodness what a thing to admit, but its totally true!

Just a little update!

If possible I love my little Archie even more then I did when I first started having lessons!! We have achieved soooooo much!!

I am now jumping 3ft which in my eyes is MASSIVE!! We are jumping water trays, skinnys and all sorts of fillers. He has picked it all up so well, and touch wood we havent had anymore falls!

When we first started lessons, if he got his stride wrong or knocked a fence or got his legs muddled, instead of giving the next jump ago he would just slam the breaks on, but now he has worked out for himself how to sort himself out and give the next jump ago!

I no longer get scared and jittery at the thought of jumping.....YAY!! Even jumping 3ft!

We are off to do some XC in June and then off for our first ever outing to do some clear rounds!!
