Ok today was the regular scheduled farrier visit for the ponies - he went to trim Little Jess's feet - bearing in mind she may have lami - and found a huge abcess/infection in her front foot!! As it happens the vet who treated her last week (had suspected lami, had a seizure and was clearly fighting an infection and had tests for ragwort poisoning/liver failure) was at the yard for another horse and was not only surprised about infection in foot but was generally delighted in her progress
. Admitted she hadn't expected her to get through the weekend. Vet and farrier then got into a lively discussion about whether the antibiotics ahd helped the abcess/infection....
but the good news is there is no sign of lami - so if it was coming on we caught it in plenty of time!!
Anyway Little Jess totally on the mend and now has her poorly toe poulticed and vet wrapped in girly pink!!!
