....well not in that way.

Usually people moan about them so I thought I'd do an appreciation post for a change.

He came to shoe sh*tbag for me yesterday and he said he'd catch him and sort it him out for me if he was going to be earlier than the time arranged.

Got to the yard straight from work and there he was just finishing off, while his assistant stood holding him

, he said he'd been as good as gold, stood like a rock and told me to buggar off out of the way (charming lol)

, he said he's really impressed with how he's come on when being shod, if only all 4 yr olds were that easy! compared to the second time when he ripped the farriers leather apron and nearly skinned a gonad

(only Mackenzie eh!) (their words not mine lol) but its now an on going joke, not funny at the time of course, non of the farriers wanted to shoe him!, he had to get them patched up, so a nice little reminder of sh*t bag every morning when he puts it on!, anyway back to now, so I was really pleased with him too.

He said his feet were in good nick structure wise buthe said your fields could do with some rain now as there getting a bit on the brittle side, told me to get some hoof moisturiser until we have a wet spell.

Any recommendations?, I used to use on my TB Carr Day & Martin Dailly Hoof Moisturiser which did help actually but if there are any out there that are really good, then its always nice to know.

I love my farrier (not in that way) too!! He's a real star and has been a knight in shiny transit van to me and my horse!! He's turned her feet around and is just great!
He's always on time, always does a fabby job, takes pride and an interest in what he does - things which easily get taken for granted until you have one that doesn't!!
For better hoof quality I feed Pro-Feet and her feet aren't brittle anymore.

I scrub their feet with water and then paint on NAF hoof moist - try to do this about 4 times a week.

Darren Arnold, he's very good with the horses, just spends his time taking he mick out of the owners though lol.

Peviously had a lovely old guy for many years who retired, he only used to charge £25.00 a set!!, cold shod though, but he always did a great job and never once did we have any problems, he was very patient and kind with them and arrived dead on time every time, we had him for years bless him but he only like to do the older ones, as he was too old for messing about with the young horses and quite rightly so, then he retired.

Then I had a another young chap from York, never turned up, never answered his phone to me, even his mother gave him a b*llocking for all the times he messed me around! in fact I doubt he's got any clients the way he carried on.

Used to have another farrier before the old chappy...going back 18 years go and he was an ass, bad tempered, rushed and lamed I don't know how many horses, he was known for it.

I have Darren's brother, Steve, to mine - he's fantastic too!! My horse can be a proper grumpy b*gger but he whinnies everytime he sees him!

Been using Equimins on Baz who had typically bad TB feet but this and good shoeing have transformed him and I am now reliably informed that he has got 'four good feet'! lol
