Bit of a soppy one really, but I've had to go through the mill with my boy having had bad laminitis last year. He was the first out of 6 (in 20 years of ownership) to have ever needed the vet- and he had a few visits plus x-rays! The trimmer was so pleased with his progress this Tuesday and I do weekly trims on his heels now too.
Anyway, today I hopped onboard for our 20min hack every 2 weeks or so. He does groundwork for the other 3/4 days a week. He felt the best that he had done since before April 16. He was more forward than usual, took himself to the mounting block (I know, he's more dog than horse) but was as bold as ever and sensible. I bought him as a troubled 4-year-old nearly 4 years ago and we just clicked straight away- my soul horse (lol). After nearly losing him and constantly worrying whether he would ever have a quality of life again. Then feeling how well he is now after years of careful training and better management, watching him bolt around his track with my other pony as well just means a lot after the months of nursing and worry. He might not have been anything 'special' before I bought him, or be anything special to anyone else, but he's really special to me.
Now it's your turn!
