Sooo hot here today. I went to catch my horses, I have 3, and they were all way down the field. So first I called Whisk. Have had him for 8 years. He looked at me and stayed put. So slogged down the field and brought him in. Then went for Oliver. Have had him just over a week and he came straight to me...bless his cotton socks. Finally went for Sophie, had her 15 years. She made walk all the way down the field too.
So Oliver I'll keep. Anyone want the other 2? Guaranteed to keep you fit. :)

If you think that's bad mine once hid in the hedges. It was the middle of winter, dark and raining. I walked round the field for about 30 minutes, thinking she'd got out.

Just as I left the field she stuck her head through the hedge. Cow. :p

I was once convinced that Hugo wasn't in the field and went back to the yard thinking maybe someone else had brought him in. No - he's in the field, so back I trogged and searched and searched! Then he popped out from behind a bush!

They do say horses keep you fit! :D

Hey just be greatful they let you catch them, they could have made you chase them around the field for half an hour :p :D :D

Atleast yours don't make you walk all the way to the bottom of the field (takes about 5 mins!) then gallop back to the gate so you have to walk all the way back after them! My mare is a master at that!

*mutters* Don't you love em :D

At my aunts yard 3 of the fields are The Brae, the Back Brae and the Far Back Brae... naturally each one further away, steeper and more filled with gorse and rabbit holes to make navigation difficult...

Went to bring in horses which were supposedly in the nearest field...but no.. some sod had left the gates open and they were in the middle field...they spotted us coming and legged it to the far end of the Far Back Brae. Could have happily sent them for meat that day as in true Northern Irish August style, the rain was coming sideways! :D

Well where I sometimes ride, the horses dont come to call, and one particular you can catch, walk two strides then it'll bugger off. So I used to herd them up to the gate, and catch them at the gate and drag him out. Well, they got clever to this and there was a pond, We spent half an hour of me going one way, them turning around and going the other and who says horses are stupid? :p

haha! brilliant. i once thought my pony had got out (it was a huge field) but alas found her standing under a very shady tree to avoid the flies. this was of course after we'd drove round looking for her and alerted the local police!

Mine sometimes hides in the branches of a knocked over tree. Ours are due to go up the mountain soon, mares first and then geldings. Wouldn't mind if I didn't have a broken back and if the gelding came to call, let alone want to be caught! We could swap - my new mare should be ok to catch (fingers crossed)!

I once had a horse on loan for 4 years, love of my life, but hey!! the guy that owned him rang me after 3 weeks to know how i was getting on, I said great, if he's here to eat, but cant catch him, the minute i walked into the garden, mightnt even want to catch him, he was over the ditch and into neighbours fields. So he came out and we gave 3 hours trying to catch him, he eventually jumped into a field he couldnt jump back out of, and we caught him, had to tie a 50ft rope to his head collar, but by the end of that summer, due to carrotts and apples, he was up to the fence when he saw you coming, and who says bribery doesnt work!!! He went on to be sold for 22,500 irish pounds, back in the day before euro!!! So, you'd never know, you might be sitting on goldmines!!!

This made me wee alittle! The image i had in my head whilst reading that :-D i dunno how many times i have gone round the field swearing the most horrendus words you could possibly imagine, but making them sound lovely and soft incase horsey gets offended and runs off :-o ! I just get the quad out to them if they are in silly moods. Atleast i can kinda keep up, sharp turning on the other hand...

The look she gives you when you get back to the gate! It's like she's laughing inside going 'Ha you can't catch me!'. I wouldn't mind if it was flatter but its all hilly so takes ages to walk through! I love her really, but she's too clever!

The other day I couldnt see my section A anywhere, hmmmm my daughter 13 said mom shes in the field next door, apparently she pushed thru,I blocked it and when she was back in the field, she knew where it was and went into a pout because Id stopped her from getting back thru.. Sometimes her and my cob,you cant find them and as its a huge field, they hide lol.
Your lucky if your horse lets you catch him.I can go upto him yes but he wont let you catch him if you attempt to.He doesnt like headcollars either. They sometimes gallop around the field refusing to be caught and it sometimes takes ages. They do keep you fit!!!!
