Just had the most fantastic ride on Missy

She's been off work for just over 2 1/2 months (pretty much 3 really) due to an ill fitting saddle and un untl a month ago I didn't have the money to buy her a new one (and te one I bought took few weeks to make). She's spent all of that time bing lunged every 3-4 days in either a Pessoa or side reins, being loose jumped or just being allowed to run around and kick her heels up.
She hasn't done anything for 5 days because I had two furry critters to look after so tonight I tacked her up, took her into the outdoor arena, lunged her for 10 minutes an then hopped on. Normally when I get on her she'll arch her back and pee about.....Today we had nothing!

Off we went and we had a short schooling session and she felt amazing!

She was working nicely and behaved so well

Her trot and canter were so smooth, you don't budge at all and she does it all underneath you, it's so comfy

We had a few spooks which unseated me a bit and normally if she unseats me she bucks like a good un' but she didn't do a thing

I'm hoping she's decided to behave herself in which case we shall start popping some jumpies and make use of that big jump of hers

My saddle made a huge difference! Seriously, if your after a new dressage saddle, get a Heather Moffett Fhoenix, they mould to the shape of your horse and will always fit no matter how much the horse changes shape and will fit anything (plus they're stupidly comfy

).

Wow, that was an essay

Apologies for the self-indulgedness

Oh cool sounds excellent.
Well done Kat, its such a great feeling being back on board when youve had a forced break isnt it and even better when they go so well.
How much, if you dont mind me asking was the dresage saddle? and where did you purchase it from?
Im thinking my lush dressage saddle is gonna be too big for snoop

and looking for a smaller/lighter alternative.

Vx

The saddle was £1095 (plus extra for accessories which I wanted) and I got it from these people Enlightened Equitation and I got a rep out (which cost about £70). I was really put off the saddle because it looked like the oddest thing ever but the horses go beautifully in it, it's so comfy and I'll never have to buy another dressage saddle again

Bloody hell that is odd lol
And out of my price range....thinking i may have to get a 2nd hand saddle now. Gone are the days when you could buy a decent new leather saddle under £1k

a friend of mine had one for her horse last year, and it looked really comfy. I never got the chance to ride in it, but the horse went so much better in it than his other saddles!
