Although she is a stubborn spooky temperamental cow bag (
wink.gif
) I took her jumping last night to Vale View, to do the "clear round" schooling. I was the only one there, so had no-one to do a warm up fence... so straight in to warm up over an upright
smirk.gif
She was a bit shocked, but coped well and was quite happy once she realised she was jumping
wink.gif

It was her second time indoors ever, and even though she couldn't POSSIBLY walk past the mirrors without snorting and going sideways (we are scared of shadows and reflections at the mo
wink.gif
) as soon as I put her in canter, I had 100% concentration on me and the fences.
She popped round a course at 90cm with some pretty decent oxers. "paddling pool" water trays under skinnies, viaduct walls, a double of "road closed" signs with back rails on beautifully, even with me seeing some shocking "yeehaa" strides and demonstrating exactly how out of practise I was!!

I LOVE my pony
grin.gif
Soooo, why do you love YOUR pony
wink.gif
tongue.gif

Cool about your horse and I guess you must be getting secretly excited.
My horse makes me laugh particularly as he nips my mother every time she has to do him but would not dare do it to me!

Aw she sounds like shes going to be a star...

Whats all this about a water complex off the outdoor arena at Vale?? YO was on about going to investigate at some point as we're very curious, especially as thats the warm up for BD.

Oh I love my pony because he's managed to stay semi clean this week and was super behaved hacking at the weekend even though his friends were very very naughty.

Lol lec! They do have a sense of humour
wink.gif
I am taking each day as it comes with her at the moment and just enjoying the good bits
wink.gif

Baileysno1 Hiya! They are building a water complex at the moment... there are going to be steps down to an all weather track from the big outdoor, and the water complex is in what used to be the fields behind the lorry park... itis going to be fab when it is completed!
grin.gif
Pleased your pony is saving you the scrubbing
wink.gif

Snoopy because he appears to have 90% of the yard pandering to his every need.
They give him carrots and cuddles or extra hay because he pulls one of his cute faces I also love his zest for life.

Winston very similar to the above, which again makes me roar with laughter. But I also love him because of his kind and generous nature. He really is the love of my life.

Bless her, I deinitely know the 'scared of own shadow' feeling!
grin.gif

I love my pony because he never fails to make me laugh (and occasionaly cry with frustration!)
Last week we were in the school at about 7pm, as I came off the corner to come across the diagonal I noticed a lovely big dog fox sat in the middle of the school, I stopped and stood still watching him, he was watching me, Pit Pony hadn't noticed what I was watching he was just pleased to have a break and was doing his usual gazing up at the sky business!
smirk.gif
The fox stood up and darted across the school about about 10 seconds, Shearer pricked his ears and walked foward but then had the most spectacular delayed reaction! Leaping in the air whilst doing simultaneous snorting and farting!
grin.gif

He is also very very funny if I send my mum to catch him, you can almost see him rubbing his hooves together and sniggering! He waits until she has got his nose inside the headcollar and then is at that crucial moment when you flick the headpiece across before quickly whipping his nose out and diappearing across the field! Twenty minutes later mum calls me from the field and I walk down, whistle and he walks up and shoves his nose in the headcollar and comes in like a lamb, all the time taking little glances at mum
grin.gif
He really is a huge character!

We scored a personal best of 57.9% dressage at the weekend. 4 years of hard work and tears and finally my horse has decided that he can actually trot in circles without impersonating an alpaca on speed. Ok, his rhythm was 'fragile' and he was 'hollow', but it was our first ever test where we didn't get a 4, he didn't gallop off in the second canter and generally went really sweetly. Very proud- although the judge must have thought I was mental as it wasn't anything that special yet after the halt I was patting him and hugging him and had a smile 6 miles wide!!

because ive never had a horse who is soo forgiving and has the ability to give me confidence I never knew I had, we had a jump lesson yesterday and so some reason fences I would normally have popped terrified me, but we ended up jumping a massive course perfectly and the bigger they get the better she jumps. Until I owned her I never even thought about going x-c now I love it.

She has everyone running around after her, me worring about everything and the YO just cant leave her out in the field when pops demands to come in!!!

I also have one that is scared of shadows (Lady), when the sun is shining (yes I can just about remember that far back
crazy.gif
) & her shadow is in front of her then she does absolutely everything to try & get away from it, of course never succeeded. Then they is the issue of twigs in the road that have horse eating monsters hiding underneath them so we have to go in reverse back up the road we have just come along,
confused.gif
but I love her all the same.

Issy I just love because she has allowed me to fullfill my all time dream of doing BE. I got her as a 5 year old who had done nothing & she has given me so much fun & joy that I will always be grateful,
smile.gif

KATB - is your youngster the one in your siggy jumping of the bank into the water?

I took Reo on a road hack the first time by himself the other day with my husband walking on foot, he has been a few times with other horses and is quite confident for a four yr old, but as he walks out so much he is always 100m in front.
tongue.gif
The funny thing he left the yard without a second thought for being on his own, it was only when he had gone about half a mile and we got to the local village he realised he was all alone
frown.gif
. This is when the little frightened calls of help started but he listened to me well and we ended up coming back on the buckle end of the rein
grin.gif
. This was after meeting a driving carrige going opposite way, a tractor and a milk tanker.

Ah katb your mare sounds so similar to my old one, such a pain in the arse she could be but she always focused and gave 100% when it mattered.

I love current pone coz hes such a cool dude and is so straightforward. Had a little panick yesterday when a horse pratting around on gravel behind a fence out hacking scared the living day lights out of him. He freaked out and bolted up the road. Thankfully managed to get him back together though and I was so pleased he didnt rear or use the opportunity to buck me off. He was terrified poor love but he came back to me safely and walked home quietly
grin.gif
.

I was with my friend on her 17.1 4yr old who was also good (considering he had my horse careering up his arse at a 100 miles an hr!) and we spent the journey home congratulating ourselves on our sensible babies
smile.gif

She looks lovely.Really glad she has turned out to be a star for you.

We have quite a few horses who come and go but I love my pony (actually hes my partners horse but I own the tail so hes a bit mine!) because he has never failed to suprise me, bought as a bit of a stop gap when my OH horse did a leg he has managed to worm his way into of our hearts and is now with us for life. He has won points BE including my OHs first and much treasured point (hes only been riding 5 years) and completed a CCI* in top 20 with me after only 5 or 6 novices
blush.gif
. He then went BS winning £600 in a year and getting placed in BN final at scope. Looked after my OH admirabley (sp) at the amatuer champs at 1.10 level when I felt physically sick for him (my OH not horse!) I cant believe we were lucky enough to find him and I love every inch of his 18.1 brown body! Feel quite emotional when I think of all he has done for us. Great post by the way!

I'm a bit insane!!
Mostly I have no idea why I love her but she is my best friend and I do love her. I also love my 2 year old to bits and pieces but she is such a sweetie and hasnt' had a chance to do anything wrong yet!!

Wow Kat sound slike she's coming on really really well!!! You must be getting a teeny tiny bit excited?!?!?!

I love B because he's generally a dude. He is the easiest horse ever to do anything with and puts up with me getting to yard 2 hours after eveyone else has finished and fed their horses and then he gets ridden!!! Because he loves sharing picnics at events, especially cheese and pickle rolls.....Because he has a gigantic head with very few brain cells........because when he wants more dinner he picks up his bucket and lobs it at anyone in the feed room (his stable is next door)....oh and because he's a cool colour!!!

Mostly because he's re-built my belief that i can actually ride and because 99.9% of the time he tries his heart out for me!!!

Just reading this post has made me realise how lucky we all are to have horses that give us so much enjoyment.
I love my horse... because she is quite hilarious
laugh.gif

We are all lucky to have such "characterful" ponies
tongue.gif

sw66, yep, she is the bay in my siggy
smile.gif
The bank pic was taken 4 days after getting her and the first time she had ever seen XC fences
tongue.gif

Thanks JackJill...

Autumnrose, I refuse to get excited!!
tongue.gif

T_H so pleased H is feeling well
wink.gif
He isnt a crock!!
tongue.gif

Keetacat, they are such strange creatures arent they?! Sounds like he is getting more confident though
smile.gif

Am I allowed to say, I love my pony because he likes cuddles and so do I? And he's coming home soon and that makes me happy!
tongue.gif
grin.gif

LOL wizoz, you can deffo say that
grin.gif

I love my horse because he is full of character, he is amazing to jump and, finally, I think he quite likes me, yay! He is lucky, as he has lots of minus points (biting, planting, refusing to go anywhere alone, etc).

Do you know, I was going to write exactly the same thing!

Before meeting Hopalong I'd genuinely never have imagined doing all the stuff I've done over the last 12-18months. She is a horse of a lifetime for me and so genuine and honest when jumping. I also love the fact that she doesn't know her age and I hope no one tells her anytime soon!
wink.gif

Big pats and carrots to all the fab HHO horses and ponies!
laugh.gif

My pokey-nosed camel is so genuine he took a 62 year old who had previously only sat on him for 20 mins in the paddock, up the beach in all paces safely. He's TBx Connie and no slouch hunting, XC or SJ. I love him for that and the fact he has NEVER put his ears back at me nor lifted a back leg ONCE in the nine years I've had him.. He's my soulmate
smile.gif

Then, I love my little Welshie, who is a monkey, can't help himself sometimes and makes me laugh with his playful larking about
smile.gif

Next I love my son'e pony/horse (she can't decide which) for her talent and beauty and the fact she has allowed us to share that talent, when the line she walks between brilliance and madness is almost invisible
smile.gif

The loan mare we have, who has progressed so much, turned into a super jumper and family member - I love her because she's a very nice person, if a trifle 'continental' and odd
smile.gif

The pony we have out on loan because while she was my daughter's, she never hurt a hair on her head and tried hard to do everything we asked, in spite of her lack of bravery
smile.gif

Last but not least, I love the little pony we lost twelve months ago because she was simply the most wonderful girl in the world, the start of it all for my children and gave us everything, including the happiest days of their childhood
smile.gif

Fab going, KatB!
smile.gif

I love my pony because he has a soft nose with a little white triangle on it, and he loves gently mugging people for food, and makes long-neck-wibbly-face when he gets scratches. And because he's becoming so much more trusting, and that makes me feel better!

I love mine because for a silly racehorse he is really turning into a fantastic horse
laugh.gif
He's got such a naughty streak which I love
laugh.gif
And on the good days he's really really really good
smile.gif

And just cuz he's the best horsey in the world
smile.gif

great stuff, sounds like many red rosettes on the horizon....

i love my pony becuase he is the same horse every ride and although he wasnt bred to do dressage he puts his heart and soul in to it and gives me his all.

Wow Kat Lucky sounds like a real little star.

Love all of ours for their different ways and characters

H bomb, he is my baby, he loves attention and fuss, but can sometimes be an interesting ride.

B, H's mum, alpha mare who needs no one, pulls the most horrible faces at you over the stable door, looking like she will kill you (keeps strangers away!), but is really a big softy.

J cos he is a nice guy.

V (Vertigo) 18.2 warmblood who thankfully is a gentle giant.

April, Ewan our 6 yr old sons pony and is a saint, puts up with anything Ewan wants to do, and doesnt turn a hair even in the heaviest traffic, a true mothers dream.

Sir (17.1 TBxID) is probably the most special, he plays games with me, will always do something a little naughty when I ride him, just because he can, but if you are feeling low he is your best friend and adjusts the way he goes and always cheers you up. He is the herd leader and looks after Ewan if he comes out in the field with us. He is a total star and will quite happily walk, jog and go over a very small x pole with Ewan on board, he has one eye on Ewan and one eye on DK making sure he is doing the right thing. It would break all the families hearts to lose him.

oooh great news Kat
grin.gif

i love my horses because....
Vandi- he was a scruffy little street urchin when i got him and a git to break but now he is so willing and puts up with my crap riding despite the fact he's a baby and realy quite scared of life!
tongue.gif
and Rocky....because nobody else would love him, his brain cell is so tiny but he whinnies every time he sees me
grin.gif

Great going .....
grin.gif
grin.gif
grin.gif
what a good girl, she just wants challenging by the sounds of it, you're going to have fun Kat!

I love my horse because he is a stupid Irish dope and full of character and we've come soooo far together
