I have been feeling a bit useless lately. With all my pregnancy problems and then being so exhausted all of the time. I gave my job up at the yard because it was making me worse. Anyway I have hardly been riding my own horses. I have even found them a chore at times because all I have been doing is mucking out and feeding. I guess the bad rain hasn't helped, as soon as I was all clear to ride again it started raining and hasn't stopped for weeks.

Last Thursday I decided to hack around our crop fields and the sun stayed out long enough for me to enjoy it. So on Sunday my sis and I invited my close friend to ride my little grey and we went for a two hour hack with her and again we had so much fun.

So anyway the weather has been nasty again, as soon as I go up the ponies it starts raining and I have been so desperate to ride. Today it was sunny! So I got Sovereign out and we went for a hack round Chavsville, (normally I avoid Chavs and stick to the countryside but I fancied a change). I was so pleased with her, I forgot I had never took her around town and she never once batted an eyelid (I guess at 37 she should really lol). We followed the main roads in a large circuit with buses and cars all over the place and she was so good. She did jog a bit but thats her being normal. We then finished the ride through the country park and had a canter in a quiet corner before hitting the main road back to the yard.

The past three rides have really made me happy, to the point that I don't want the rides to end and could stay out all day on her. I haven't felt like this for so long now and I was getting worried that the oldies were going to spend their last days stuck in the field because I hated them. I don't hate them, I just needed to spend some quality time on them again.

Pity the winter is round the corner, I lost a whole summer riding to my miscarriages but at least now I can see the point again.

Sorry, probably means nothing to most people but I feel so warm and gooey I had to share it!

go you. it is good that you are enjoying riding again that is how it should be! i too have lost the whole summer's riding, have not been allowed on a horse since may & dont expect to be allowed until feb time so i know how frustrating it is! also what has been stopping you is so emotionally exhausting i can fully see why you have had a hard time motivating yourself to do anything.

i am intrigued by your user name? do you own a howen new forest? if so i used to own one too! howen rupert, the pony in my sig & avatar
