Took G out for first ever hack on our own today and he was brilliant and it was really nice and relaxing.

Had a few trots along the tracks and then after a while felt a bit brave (which is NON- EXISTENT FOR ME!) and asked for a canter, was sh***ing myself at first as was scared he'd suddenly go up into gallop but he was brilliant, really relaxed and calm, i even had to kick him on a bit!

Then asked for another one on the way back

It was so funny there was a farmer in the field leaning on his tractor, drinking a flask of tea (or something) and he called over when i'd just stopped cantering in the broadest narrrrfolk farmer voice ever 'was that fun cos it looked like fuunnn, maybe oi should take 'p 'orse riding' haha.

So yes just a bit self-indulgent but oh well.

Thats great. What a lovely feeling to be hacking out on a safe horse. I have 2 safe hacks now, but for ages after selling my spooky horse who I regularly fell off due to MEGA spooks when out hacking, I had a fear of cantering or galloping anywhere even in an open field as Milly used to swerve violently to miss a darker shade of green, blade of grass. lol

Thanks, i am so pleased with him, he is a 100% confidence giver in all respects, he NEVER does anything, never and he's also really bombproof which is the only reason really why i took the plunge and decided to take him out on my own....and then have a canter.

Yeh, it's great just going off togehter for ages, wandering around the countryside, really relaxing :-)
