Pointless thread but being pregnant I really miss how much and the horses I used to ride! I have 2 youngsters turned out, a new forest gelding who's too sharp to trust whilst being pregnant and my elderly mare who I still enjoy a good plod round the field with once or twice a week, but I really miss properly riding I used to work on a yard riding at least 6 times a day. Sorry cookies for everyone who managed to stay awake through my very pointless post, but would love to know if anyone else felt the same whilst being pregnant?

It's okay, I know how you feel. I haven't ridden in 1.5 years!! Sort of sloped off due to work and then never really got back. It's really embarrassing to admit but I always get really jealous when I see people riding because I know how much i'm missing out on!

So, yeah. Brew? :o

I'm with you on the seeing others riding, I sit and watch people ride my horses almost every day and I know it's only a few months and ill be able to get back in the saddle again but it seems so far away!

Not me thats pregnant but the horse but yes I'm really missing riding - I'm not even getting a horse fix on the ground at the moment as have just had surgery on my ankle and am non-weight bearing for another 6 weeks. It'll be worth it in the end and I'll be on my feet for foally coming :D:D

It gets to me, I sit and I think 'why do you get to ride and I don't'. You know like really petty stuff? And then i'll get myself all depressed about it. I'm lucky to have contact with horses as I know plenty of people don't but it still doesn't help the fact I miss riding.
Worst thing is, I've outgrown my hat, Jodhpurs etc.. and I can't afford to buy new so I don't see myself even getting back into riding.

ME TOO ! Mine can be 'tricky' and I had some problems with my last pregnancy so I stopped almost immediately in Nov. Most of the winter has been grim so I haven't missed it that much but we've had a few lovely sunny days recently which have made me very jealous of all those out and about.

My local ODE is running this weekend and I would have been really jealous but it's been pouring down all day so maybe I'm best off waiting until next year anyway.

Snap!! Congrats :D Im 28wks and begrudgingly promiced oh I wouldnt ride after 12wks, it feels like a lifetime plus I got a newbie in december that I havnt had a chance to try! (yes I bought a horse without trying itor even seeing it being ridden but its not the 1st time either!) I did try twice briefly but felt so guilty having the oh's voice ringing in my ears that itruined it and I got off lead her back to the field! Just think of how much more you will appreciate getting back in the saddle afterwards though! Im already planning hacks and shows! :D

Im 26 weeks now. Not missing riding as I'm still riding my horse but just schooling and hacking.
I am however missing jumping and going for a blast, doing shows and generally being reckless. I miss fitting in my 24inch jeans. I'm also miss having a glass of wine! And eating
camembert... red wine and camembert mmmmm...
BUT it's only for a few months and it will all be worth it to have a beautiful baby :). Good luck with your pregnancy.

Today a friend of mine bought me a form for the Burghley sponsored ride this year as a target to aim for - my boys been on hols so we'll both be as unfit as each other come July when I get back on !

It'll be worth it in the end, after last time I'm definitely in the 'better safe than sorry' camp! but it does feel like a very long time !!
