I need a DUCK!

Well my friend does....her male duck needs a girlfriend as hes all lonely since the death of his mate. She doesn't want to go to a over crowded duck breeder and by a baby duck but wants to rehome an older unwanted duck (and pay for it if its a charity)
You would think that would be easy but oh no, none of the sancturaries have any females only males, she can't find a blooming duck anywhere!!! Anyone got any clever suggestions? (We are in somerset)

i needed a call duck (a boy) as a friend for my girl, and went to a local breeder, he had one of the right sort of age luckily.
you could try preloved, local freeby papers etc, but i tried those and had no luck.
hop your friend finds a girlfriend for lonely duckie.

Try Practical Poultry magazine. There are lots of breeders etc advertising at the back. I got new friends for my goose when his brother died.

Do you have a local ads paper, one of my friends who loves ducks got females (some for free) when a fox took both her girls and she ended up with more just by browsing.

What type of duck you looking for? I have a few duck breeder friends and may be able to get hold of a duck for your friend.

practical poultry have a forum and often has people advertising various birds free to good homes, I think there is a smallholders forum too that has similar ads online
