I've got a week off school before the half term holidays when everyone else is doing work experience (I'm doing mine during the hols) and I need some horsy project to work towards...

Parent's have agreed to drop me off at the yard at 8/9am every morning and pick me up at 7pm, as long as I do some science revision at the stables...

So this leaves me hours of time to work on something horsy...

I was thinking of either teaching Jayjay something new (perhaps how to lunge or long-rein? I tried with him the other day and it was a nightmare, but I'll really need assistance to start with, cos I'm a midget and he really doesn't care about the lunge whip!

) or improving my jumping on my sister's pony, who's ace at it.... Or something else

Like re-arranging our tack space...

Please help me with ideas

Have a big tidy up/clear out of tack boxes, clean stable from top to toe, check fencing, poo pick, clean water troughs, lift feedbins and sweep/scrub, clean all tack and clothing, paint some jumps, make some jumps, go on a big long hack with a picnic, have a lesson, play with ponies, good groom, a bath if the weather is nice, practice your plaiting....
Have fun!

theres lots you could do- Beleive me I got VERY inventive when my babies where all at unridable ages.
You can loose school, play with some parelli ideas on desensitisation- ie walking over big plastic bags ect.
I did some loose jumping, taught my 2 year old spanish walk- not very usfel for much for a non spanish horse but it does teach respect and for you and your horse to listen to one another.
Alternatively why not get creative and make some jumps, fillers or even xc fences out of old bits a bobs- as long as they are safe!!

"What about oscar? Cant do anything with him? or have i missed something?! "

Yep, I'll ride and school him, but I don't want to work on teaching him new stuff unless there's a responsible adult to help me xD I might plait him up though, and do a photo shoot! He's green with poop at the moment, and hosing down doesn't seem to budge it, I think he needs a proper scrub!

Jayjay's allready desensitised x) Solo's so flighty, I think that might upset him, but Osk's terrified of whips, so I think I could work on that! Perhaps just leave them around for him to get used to. He's not spooky at all though...

I would love to teach one of mine spanish walk... Just so I can show off to my sisters xD How much weight do they have to put on their bum to do it?

How about making an XC course in ashton court? It's filled with really wide bridleways, but are you allowed to drag bits of wood around and make solid jumps in a public area?

You could teach Jay to do TREC obstacles, like standing in a circle, going down a line of poles, bending etc. You can buy the BHS trec rulebook for £5 for details and ideas.
