my daughter wants to have riding lessons, she's 12 and has never ridden before. i'm a single parent and need somewhere that wont cost the earth but i want her to be safe. please can anyone suggest anywhere. i dont know much about horses but her mum used to have them when she was little. i really dont want to go anywhere that isnt safe.

please can anyone help me?

wimbledon village is very good but it isnt cheap. I used to help there in return for rides but i don't know how competent your daughter is. However the quality of teaching is fantastic, sorry its not much help but may be worth a try if you can find nothing closer. x

I don't know the area that well but a family friend used to keep her horse at Chessington, is that close to you? I have no idea about it though so its worth googling.

Damn iPod! Vauxhall city farm used to do subsidised lessons for local children so worth seeing if there is anything similar near to you :)

There is also Westway by Latimer Rd tube station and Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre. Definitely cheaper than Wimbledon! Never ridden at either though!

My daughter started at westway. A unique place! It is literally under the westway! Depends where in west london you are.

Deen City Farm? I bought a pony from there a couple of years ago and I got off the Tube in South Wimbledon I think. The yard seemed welcoming and professional and the horses looked well-cared for.
