Not really whooping for joy despite managing to sell my 3 horsebox yesterday. I had it converted last summer and paid £26k, and sold it yesterday, having used it 3 times - it even had the original tank of fuel - for £17k. Anyway - I really need to find a 3 horse trailer asap. I have searched and searched the internet but nothing comes up or it is in Perthshire or similar - I am down in East Sussex.

If anyone hears of one for sale (good condition, pref herringbone) please please let me know! I think they tend to go by word of mouth or are rare as hens' teeth.

sorry I dont know of any for sale.. just wanted to warn you that there are some european ones about that arent uk legal
( too wide ) so make sure they are under 2.3m or 7 ft6 inch overall width.. hope this helps
 
How much do you want to spend, the Fautras do a fab looking one thats herringbone, I think its called Promax 3. Theres the Oblique but I think the promax is even better.
Im in a similar position to you, having had a wagon converted last October and now trying to sell it at a big loss too. Ive used mine about 10 times.
Id be interested to know how you go on if you get a herringbone trailer as the only reason I bought a wagon was because my horse wont travel in a trailer. Keep us updated.

I have the promax 4 and I am very pleased with it. It tows fantastically well and everything i have ever put in it has travelled very well and I never have any difficulty in loading anything......never had to use the ramp they all just step in!
They are also very well built and the floor I believe has a lifetime guarentee! Thumbs up from me!
 
I have a friend with an old but sound Rice 3. It's two horses front to back and a pony/small horse in the front. She wants a grand for it, please PM me if you are interested. It needs a coat of paint pretty badly but is double floored and basically sound.

I have an Ifor 511 which I love and the horses all travel well in it so I'm not anticipating any probs with a herringbone trailer, just can't find one. I really want used - up to about £5k but I don't know how much they fetch. I have looked at the Fautras info and love the sound of the Oblic+3, as was worried about the stepping up / down from the Promax but it doesn't seem a problem for anyone else. I have friends with large IW trebles and I have considered asking them if I can borrow just to load up, go round the block etc, and see how it tows. I have a Discovery so am hoping I'll be ok with weights - will have to check it out. Sadly no Fautras dealers near me to see one in reality. Will let you know how it all goes... Many thanks.
 
You are right about them being rare - the horse I loaned over the summer belonged to a horse transporter who had one Ifor Williamss rang him up and gave him a brand new 2 horse trailer and some cash for his 3 horse trailer ! He said he'd never travled 3 horses in it anyway.
 
Have a look on the BHDTA website, they have a discussion forum and a for sale section. There are a couple of trailers there if you scroll down, but don't know if they are what you're looking for.
