Hi everyone, I'm new here...in fact, this is my first post!

I am a 41yr old mum of 3 and finally have time on my hands to pursue my lifelong dream of working with/riding horses. I am currently doing a Lingfield course in equine management and desperately need hands on stable experience.

I am in the Teesside area of North East England - does anyone know of any stables/yards etc that could do with a free pair of hands?

Hope to hear from you soon :)

:( I wish I was too! I really need to get started somewhere asap. Does anyone have any idea where else I could try. I've got an application in with RDA - just waiting to hear on them to do a bit of voluntary work.

Thanks for reading x

Hi, RDA is definitely a good idea. Otherwise do a search on stables local to you, or ask your local council - all stables have to register with them and be licensed by them. Once you've found one you'd probably have to commit to turning up regularly for a while, otherwise there's not much in it for them ... but from my experience lots of stables would welcome a willing pair of hands. Good luck!

Thanks for your replies, I have done a search on stables and two have got back to me - they don't take voluntary workers on. I think it's perhaps because they'll be needing to initially spend a little time with me showing the ropes etc. I think I may just put my coursework to one side until RDA get in touch. I'll keep trying in the meantime :o
