Fin is slightly croup high and his Treefree saddle does not budge. He scrambles up and down some very steep, rocky hills, ones I would not go near with a domestic horse, to be honest, and the saddle is solid.

Treefree have offered to make me a specially short saddle for Woody and I am sorely tempted but I really should sell my now redundant saddles first. I do need a breastplate with the Torsion to make sure it will not slip back but I can get on from the ground in an emergency.

Fin’s saddle is custom made for a short backed pony. It stays put without a breastplate or a crupper or anything. The hi-viz thing in the photo once held it on long enough for me to bail when it slid sideways, due to me forgetting to tighten the girth. But it’s just a hi viz thing. Saddle stays perfectly in place when you tighten the girth.

Thank you, Ive tried a LM saddle and it fit great, did move and was comfortable too. I really suffered the next day, with pain all down the outside/back of my thigh. I instantly thought it was the wide twist of the saddle but looking back it could have been when I turned round quickly whilst riding and had a mini rant, arms involved too  at a car that was right up our backside! Did you find it extremely wide to ride in, I think this was a size 4 fit

Are there some stretches or physio exercises that you can do to build up your leg strength and flexibility? I have a regime of lower back exercises and I can tell when I've slacked off.

I had a Black Country Eloquence on my highland, but it was made to measure for him when he was older than your pony, so more established in his shape. Lovely saddle though.

I have a bum high very wide Welsh D that I’ve just went through several saddles of different makes to try to get a fit.

He’s currently in a Black Country WH saddle XW on a euro tree. She thought he was going to be on the Freedom tree however the euro fits him instead. We tried about 6brands of saddle and various types within the brand.

Here is some pics

One of mine is a 3 the other a 5 I find them fine to ride in but had these horses years so used to the wideness of them.
