Please help.....

I need to find livery for my two remaining girls (3 yr old & a weanling filly) by early October as the farm we rent has been sold.

I work part time from the office (either mornings or afternoons) and the rest of the day from home and to be honest I could probably do with a little bit of help with turning out etc.

I'm thinking that part livery would solve the problem of having someone to turn them out / bring them in - am I right??

Also, are yards quite happy to take youngsters or do I need to look for something particular?

Any idea what equipment I'll need to provide or is that yard specific - obviously I have a full set of everything from being totally DIY!

Sorry for all the questions - it's been years since I've been at a yard!!

Also, if anyone has any recommendations for yards near Ellon in Aberdeenshire please let me know!!

Thanks

Wow, do you live in Ellon? What a small world! I lived in Ythanbank, and worked in the Bridge bar!
Don't know of any liveries there though, I moved to Newmachar and ran a livery yard there before moving away completely, but Newmachar prob a bit too far for you. I would highly recommend the yard though

More a case of how on earth I ended up in Scotland

I come from Suffolk

Moved up there in 2000 with a boyf who came from Ellon. Lived there for a year working in the pub before getting the job in Newmachar, stayed for a yr and a half. Relationship broke down, missed my family, didn't have many friends, lost my mare to colic, and got a little tired of living on a hill in a mobile home

So very, very cold, depressed and isolated

Don't regret any of it though! Beautiful area

I would post this in the Breeding section as well. You might get a better response from other people with babies and youngsters. Good luck.

i'd make sure they aren't going to be turned out with mature shod horses, tbh. youngsters can be persistent in asking other horses to play and pee them off enough to get kicked... just something to bear in mind.
best of luck finding somewhere. maybe try a local breeder/stud rather than a livery yard?

Ah I see, I can also see why you went home

Which yard did you work for?

Lower Rannieshill Farm, lovely owners and brilliant place, lots of grazing, floodlit arena, nice stables, on site staff 24hrs. Miss them

I may have found a yard - going to see it tomorrow - it's a small place with an arena, stables with rubber mats and best of all, individual turnout (my girls can go in together). Fingers crossed it works out.....

NikkiPortia - my old pony was stabled at Lower Rannieshill - how long ago were you there?
