Hi my name is Polos and I have an addiction to saddle cloths. I have spent an obscene amount this past month on a shockemohle pad, a HV polo pad, Eskardron platinum pad and tonight have just bought 2 Euro star pads.

I can't tell my dad as he will kill me!!! I have a whole shelf devoted to them at the yard and 3 bin bags of them in the garage.....and a stack of them in my room. I know I should have a clear out of them but I can't bring myself to get rid of them!

I can't stop buying them either, I keep seeing too many pretty ones!

Anyone else have a saddle cloth obsession or is it just me?

It is a slightly less shocking obsession if you do actually ride your horse.. And use them..? If not then I think you need to seek help and hide the evidence by parcelling them all up and sending them to me :)

Tot up how much you have spent on saddle cloths in the past year. Choose something you actually need (like a fund for servicing your car, or a holiday, etc), and then start saving. If you don't fritter your money on non-essentials you could have so much more fun. That'll be why your Dad gets annoyed!;)

its not really the worst problem in the world. Providing you are spending your own hard earned cash and not going into debt.
Try googling pattern for making saddle pad and a sewing machine !

I find it really hard to sort through them and find some to sell as I like them all too much :(

I'm not in danger of going into debt but it's my new years resolution to stop buying them! (Well actually after I have bought the 2 I have my eye on...)

Must stop!

I seem to have acquired a huge array of rugs recently as Shy has gone from 5'9 to 6'3 in six months ........ but saddle cloths I am afraid I can't help you with as The Boy is treeless and has to have the special pad. At £100 a pop, they will be used until they disintegrate. Literally ! :D

If I was talented with a sewing machine I would actually try and make a bed spread! Not sure if stapling them together would work ;)

I have a few matching bandages.....

I'm currently out of the country but I have decided that I will count them when I get back and post the total on here haha

Mine is currently a browband addiction! All so sparkly and gorgeous these days - I never use them though so they just sit in the drawer :-/ I feel your pain. I think like clothes we must be brutal.. If we haven't used them in 6 months then we must sell them. And use the money for the new purchasing addiction that wouldve no doubt been aquired by then.... :-)

I got a new saddle pad for Xmas, have bought two new ones this week and yesterday found two in my huge pile of saddle pads that I haven't used since I bought them in March!!

I have been very ill and unable to ride most of this year. Recently I've had a series of nerve blocks done and brought my retired horse back into work so since Xmas I've been feeling really positive about getting all three horses into work and part of my enthusiasm has spilled out into matchy tat buying. I'm ok with it as it's my money and I wouldn't be spending it on anything else and it makes me happy when I could otherwise be feeling sad about how little I actually ride. So what if I can only walk/potter around, my horses will look smart doing it and I will enjoy getting them ready as well.

I'm always happy to rehome unwanted matchy stuff if you decide to cut down ;0)

I have five pairs of long brown leather boots (was seven but sold two pairs on ebay) and three pairs of jod boots - as far as I am aware, I only have one pair of legs! ;)

Have 2 for every day - you can have one being cleaned while you use the other - and 2 for competing - that's 3 more than I have! :P I used to be bad at buying unnecessary horsey stuff, I just had to get tough with myself and ask myself did I really need it? And no, I don't need multiple bridles, bits, headcollars, numnahs etc. So now I just have one of each :)
