I'm a bit panicky, and just need a few vibes...
My new horse arrives on Friday, to fields as hard as rutted rock, the sand school is like rock, and the lanes are icy. I can't postpone his arrival, as his old stable is being filled by another horse the day after he's supposed to arrive at mine.
As long as there's no more snow, and we're careful, it will be safe enough to travel him, as it's mainly motorway, but my worry is that he is competition fit, and currently in a lot of work. The yard he's coming from has an indoor school, and unless it thaws out he's going to be stable bound at mine.
This must be the worst possible time to buy a horse! When I did the deal over a week ago, the weather was fine, and I thought I'd probably have a month to get him settled, before the really bad weather comes. How wrong I was...
