Hi there i need some help i have a 15 year old tb she is very head shy i can not touch her round by her pole me and my partner have been working with her she will not let you no where near it we have tried to work are hands you her face but when we get near he pole she rears up but we have noticed the last couple off day she has started to just nod her head we have had her for 2 week we do not no what has happened to her with the old owns if any one has advice please i would be very grateful thank you

She may have hit her poll and injured it or she could have an old injury that is causing pain, I would get a vet out to have a look they can sedate her and have a good look and may have to do further tests.

I had a mare that had an old injury and had scar tissue in the poll area she to was very head shy, my vet recommended I get a physio to look at her and it really did help.

It actually sounds as if you're making progress with her reducing her reaction to a head nod instead of rearing, and it's going to take a lot longer than 2wks to solve the problem. Time and patience, you'll get there.

In the meantime, for putting a headcollar on, buy one with a buckle on top of the nose as well as the top buckle that goes at the side of the face. Unfasten both buckles. Do the top buckle up lower down round her neck and move it slowly up to somewhere near her ears but not too close, then fasten the other part of the headcollar round her nose.
