I need the good old H&H vibes for my friends horse.
My friends Arab stallion was taken into O'Gormans on Wednesday evening very poorly. They had found him in the field shelter shaking facing into the corner. A normal friendly boy was so frighten that they could not get near him. He was ataxic ,shaking ,very frightened when someone tried to touch him. Vet called and they finally got him sedated.
I got a call to ask if I would transport him to the vet hospital. When I arrived at my friends field she and another friend were with him keeping him calm. We loaded him, although very frightened he loaded very well. The owner came with me and her friend followed in the car. A slow 25miles journey along the motorway and we arrived at the vets ,where there were 4 vets waiting for us. We moved him inside to the examinating stock, bloods taken ,ultra sound done (not colic) other tests done. Senior vet called where further ultra sound done, blood sugar done along with heart rate and temperature. Temp normal heart rate slightly elervated. He was given further pain killers and we slowly moved him to a stable, he was very ataxic not really knowing where to move his legs.
After further consultation it was thought it could either be Tetenus. Another vet was called to see him , so we now had 6 vets and a vet nurse with him.
They are treating him for Tetenus (although he is fully up to date with his vaccinations).
Finally we all got home at gone midnight.
Yesterday he did seem to be very very slightly better. We will just have to wait and see how he is in the next few day.
So please we need those good vibes for Muphasah a very special boy.
