Some leg wraps that can be put on damp/dirty legs overnight to help dry them off as my horse suffers with mud fever, but that also cover the hock, i have the polypad bandage rappas which are really good but they only come up to just below the hock, i was looking at the rambo newmarket leg wraps but i emailed horseware ireland and they said that as they are used with bandages they may rub. Has anyone got any suggestions, i need to cover the hock as my horse has a tendency to move the bed around and lie on concrete. Thanks
 
We were thinking of getting magnetic wraps this year to help with the mud fever defense. I doubt if you'd get them over the hock though.

How about some cheap fleece travel boots? That would wick moisture away, and wouldn't rub...

We found deep straw beds helped no end last year. We cold hose the legs when they come in, covered in wet clay mud, then towel dry (don't use any soap and no warm water - so pores aren't opened, but horse not stood in mud). The straw warms the legs well, and they dry fairly quickly. They did much better than when on shavings..
 
I've had an idea does anyone think it will work if i combined the pads http://www.robinsons-uk.com/product...oupCode=0304&groupCode=03404&page=2#sku.55026 with the premier equine stable boot wraps do you think that would work? Otherwise those thermatex ones look good! I unfortunately cant use straw as he gets a bad cough! He is such a pain, i thought those newmarket ones would be thick enough to use with slightly damp legs.
 
The Thermatex hinds looks good to me - otherwise - Long Eskadron stable wraps with stable bandages - wash legs off first though so the mud does not rub.

I had a thoroughbred with 4 white socks - I ALWAYS washed his legs off in the evenings to prevent mud fever - he never got it.
 
Oh thanks, i always wash and towell dry his legs he didnt get it at all last winter but he has had it this summer as i have moved yards and there is a stream in the field which he spends alot of time in, unfortunately there isnt another field for him to move to atm
