the licensed ntr stallion Dont Forget Jay-r!!!!! he has bsja winnings and has competed in dressage, novice scoring 65% plus and elemetry level scoring 62% plus. He hasnt competed much since 2003 but has some lovely foals on the ground, he will suit my mares along with my other stallion Holme Grove Calypso. Im really excited for next year, i know he isnt graded as some are going to point out, but i feel he has proved himself in competition and is still sound, and we will be out bsja this winter.will post pics when i get some nice ones!!

That's exciting

yes, you may have seen him advertised recently!! very nice horse, pictures didnt do him justice at all. A super horse to handle, a credit to past owners.

yes!!! but doesnt show him to how is really is, but he is a good school master, takes my novice boyfroend round a course, but happily jumps round 120 with me at home, very genuine boy. my trakehner is by hg solomon out of cordula, bred by holme grove.

Are you sure that he isn't graded? I only ask as either you have very deep pockets or someone has not being playing straight with the BSJA (not you, a previous owner of course) as I thought that ungraded stallions could not jump unless they paid a surcharge of something like £1500 per year to do so. I also understood that those ungraded stallions that took the 'easy route' (actually not so easy considering the height of the fences) of attending a BSJA stallion jumping approval still had to be graded by a studbook within 3 years of passing that but I may be wrong there.

Ciss when did the extra fee for jumping stallions BSJA come in ,i know you will know
I suppose it could be that he hasnt competed affiliated at all since you had to pay the levy.
I think your right isnt it something like a thousand pounds on top of the registration fees.
Was this horse sold back in the spring i'm sure there was a post on here about him before

I know how difficult it is to get decent photos, & hopefully that is the case here, as he looks weak behind & he looks like a gelding IMO. I dont mean to be horrible, sure he is a nice lad, but the photos make him look very average, not one of Dallas's best. Good luck with him though.

i wasnt asking for an opinion???? i know what he looks like and in my opinion and my stud vets, we think think he is good enough, and regards the bsja, all stallions over a certain age can compete?? must admit every time i come on and post people seem to put one of my horses down, thanks for the coments regardless, think i will lurk from now on.

Yes he was sold back in the spring, which is when the pictures were taken, she has fed him up well, but money troubles anabled me to buy him.

Sorry but i wasnt putting the stallion down i didnt even make a remark about him other than i thought he had been for sale in the spring which he obviously was.
Shows i'm not losing my marbles if nothing else.
Also there was a post on here about bsja and competing stallions a while ago so was just curious if the same applied to your boy because i couldnt remember when they bought the levy in for competing stallions or perphaps you are right older ones dont need to pay it.
Actually i think my worse offence on this post was asking Ciss about the levy so sorry for stealing your post.
Actually i know someone with a coloured horse by your boy

you dont need to apologise, im touchy were my horses are concered, and my rant wasnt at you. i rang the bsja and was told he was excempt, thats good enough for me!!

Thats great news that you can compete him without paying the extra.

yes look forward to it, will be nice to ride a well schooled horses again, been a while since i was an international groom, and rode horses people dream of owning!!!!

he is very nice.i like him plus he is a chesnut my favourite's. as long as your happy with him thats all that counts. i might see him jumping locally.

"yes look forward to it, will be nice to ride a well schooled horses again, been a while since i was an international groom, and rode horses people dream of owning!!!!!" - If that was directed at me, as I said my opinon based on the photos, which do him no justice & does not show a well schooled horse or at least not one working through from behind. As hard as it is for some owners, not everyone is going to agree that they own the best thing since sliced bread. Because of the amount of foals he can produce a stallion really does need to prove his worth. As Dallas was local to me I saw a lot of his offspring, so my comment this one not being one his best, is based on that & the photos I have seen of this lad. Why does this upset you, when it is not you riding the horse & I already said the photos were not doing him justice? It was I assume before you bought him, so bears no realation to you what so ever. You have have the horse in the flesh, you have seen him move, so what does it matter what I think. I repeat good luck with him.

And I probably made it worse by not answering right away but had to check up on the facts which took a bit of time, so apologies there as well.

The surcharge was introduced about 5 years ago (the SPSS have done it since the beginning and are the only purely pony studbook to be credited as a BSJA approved studbook for this purpose BTW :-)) and there is a dispensation for ungraded stallions that were already jumping with success by that date, so that is probably why he is OK BSJA (the Weatherbys Licence is not an approved route as far as BSJA is concerned of course as there is no assessment possible in front of BSJA approved judges).

Also his actual original name is Don't Forget J.R. (note full stops and initial for J not Jay so Julie Newall -- who according to the BHD book actually bred him -- was obviously heavily into punctuation<ROFL>). His original breeding papers were also supplied by BWBS/BSHR and hopefully he still has these as he is the only horse identified with that name by NED.

on his passport its spelt jay-r??? but julie newell did breed him and he was only sold 2yrs ago, more digging on my part i think.

I went to look at Don't Forget J.R two weeks ago, lovely horse didn't buy him though. Have pm'd you with details and can forward you his competition history.

He's 15 years old and 16.2hh by Dallas and has £204 actual winnings and £176 notional BSJA winnings, 81 BD points at novice/elementary level, not done much for five years. He's exempt from the BSJA stallion grading as I checked with them. I also checked he was registered with the NTR.
