Velvet! Who's showname we are almost decided on Velvet Surprise. As she was just that!

Mare didn't show much apart from milk (I didn't have pH strips) so thought she wouldn't foal last night and low and behold she did! This is our first foal, mare is a bit bruised but shes had an anti-inflam. Vet thinks Velvet is a nice strong filly and has been up, suckling and giving me kisses!
Will put them up on photobucket later but the button isn't showing up so I'm using imageshack. So here she is!

Thank you :) I'm very proud of my mare as well and I love her to pieces also.
She loves having around her ears scratched and she will be Velly as a nickname (easier to call) :D
 
My mare is a Standardbred X Welsh D (Zante/Zantie) and the sire is Holiday's Daydream :) We're not set on a show name yet either, but she's definately called Velvet :) We have a few choices so if anyone has a preference its greatly appreciated!

Jilly - I did think she would go earlier, but as I didnt know what she was like I wasn't 100% certain. Vet said she looked to have foaled late last night/very early this morning. We weren't there as last night she was stuffing her face when I went to check her and didn't even notice me! Thought she was going to foal on Tuesday/Wednesday but I think people walking along the footpath beside her field might have disturbed her.

Think I'll turn her out without it tomorrow, but my mare who is usually a saint to catch will have hers on as we couldnt catch her this morning!
 
Mine was 336 days :) your mare will now do it when you least expect it! I'm actually quite proud of my mare most of all, don't know if she is a maiden but thought she might be quite foal proud. Although she calls a bit, she's not stopped me going near her once :)
Just got to find out if I can give her some bute tomorrow should she still be bruised bless her :)
 
I officially hate you - but in the nicest possible way! lol!
I would have thought that if she has had some pain killer today, she would be ok to have some tomorrow too?? Prepare to be corrected tho!
Has she torn or is she just a bit swollen and knocked about? xx
 
Haha I'm really sorry! I didn't expect it though and I'm not willing your mare to foal frantically! :D
Wasn't bute today, had anti-inflam injection, bruise and knocked about apparently though I think she tore a little I thought but vet didn't do anything to it when I asked if it was needed. I'm assuming I can give her bute tomorrow hopefully but correct me if I'm wrong!

I would have thought she could have a bute..... surely if she has had a jab??? Anyone???! Im giving up giving advice! lol! xxx
 
Some videos of her trotting and cantering around :) I'm very very very pleased with her canter as I wanted to use a stallion that stamped his progeny with paces especially canter as my mare has awful "trotter" paces (love her but her canter is awful) and it seems to have worked!

 
Thank you so much Penny for letting us use Daydream, Velvet is a corker! Even Dad is a bit smitten with her, though he pretends not to be. Will try get some action shots now that she knows how to buck and canter rings around Zant!
 
She's a real sweetie, today I got groomed by her for ages (the closest I've got to her with her permission) :) I love her little face, its a bit long but I'm sure she will grow into it!
She'll be a bit bigger than Kodi as well flibble :P you told her not to foal while you were gone and I don't think she listened at all! :D
