My first lesson was definately interesting

Go on then spill the beans - was it a sort of hair raising episode in which the instructor had to close his eyes and pray or more of a driving miss daisy?

lol.. I did appologise as I was leaving - to laughter from the office staff :D

I don't think I got to 30 mph

and omg turning is so frickin difficult

I think I might have to stick to

and let the horse walk :o

Oh no! At least you passed your theory :). Its okay when you get going first lesson I didnt go over 30mph for the first hour or so and it feels REALLY fast!! by lesson 3 I had to keep checking I wasnt speeding particularly on silly 60mph single roads where you have to go 40! Count your blessings yours is only a 14 tonner :p!! My instructor claimed women were always "pootling" but "in a nice way" lol so I think I was a bit of a shock. The weirdest things I found were remembering not to drive straight THEN turn and sometimes on a downhill junction it would feel like I had completely stopped but upon applying the handbrake it was quickly realised that actually I hadnt! How are you finding the gears? my training lorry had 8 gears and you had to flick a switch to change between low and high range, was almost disappointed to discover my 7.5ton horsebox only had 5gears (once I'd FINALLY nailed the gears in the 18tonner that is!). It gets easier. The reversing maneouver I found really weird as the lorry had a better lock than my car! :o but was pretty simple tbh :). How many lessons before your test? :D

we didn't even get to reverse :p

I kept muttering "oh god", to which my instructor replied "gods got nothing to do with it - in this lorry, I am god" :D

The gears are slightly confusing at the moment - this one has 8 gears too and the little switch thingy. I'm not too keen on moving off in third gear just yet
We were only out for 20 minutes but I think I was starting to get the hang of changing gears by the end. Slowly, slowly lol
My lorry is also only 5 gears and 7.5T :o

The turning is still a bit strange - I'm so used to concentrating on the front end swinging out rather than the back end but I'm sure it'll come with more practice. I kept getting too close to the curb - oops

He said 6 lessons and then my test so I think I'll have to wait until January and book the time off work to do it.

I was bricking it :D

I had the same problem with turning to start as my car has a huge bonnet! I got yelled at what are you looking there for theres nothing in front watch for the pedestrian you are about to hit with your back! there was no pedestrian - completely MEAN panic inducing trick! I hadnt even ahem *quite* mounted the kerb!

I was okay at moving off in 3rd or 4th BUT when I first started going from 3rd to 4th I pulled the gearstick out the gearbox twice!! :o 5th gear was my nemesis for quite some time as it just never went in if I got the positioning a teeny bit wrong.

My main problem became trying to drive the car at the end of the day! Difficult with setting off gears being in a different place and I nearly went into *6th* or as it would have been in my car...Reverse!

Eek exciting stuff :). My licence finally came through today :) the card is looking decidedly full of entitlements now :). Good luck with your test! :D
