Slightly overdramatic title perhaps...

After years of riding nothing but Genie, today I took my 4yo to her first RC rally - nice and simple flatwork, mainly walk and trot. I do not ride Titchy very often as I am too big for her (a lot of people say I'm not, but I feel it) and today was my fifth time riding her, and my first time riding her for more than 15 minutes apart from one hack.

I wasn't sure what to expect... she went to her first dressage with her jockey last week and was absolutely amazing, but she had Genie with her on the lorry and her jockey is a lot more confident with her than I am! She came off the lorry rather on her toes but once I was onboard she settled and worked very nicely indeed.

I still feel that if she does anything I will just wobble off (I am used to Genie's large shoulder and neck) but I felt that today I actually RODE her for the first time as opposed to just 'pootling' around. Bless her she's got such an old head on young shoulders... she called a bit but other than that was fine.

Just wanted to share! :D

Well done you!! I'm proud for you - it takes real guts to take a baby pony to a party when you are used to your regular steed!

I'm attempting a treasure hunt next Sun at local RC - first time for 4 y o NF baby who I've backed and ridden (or wobbled!) away. OK, its not Badminton but last year I lost my "lifetime jumping pony" & acquired a false knee!!! So we shall be sitting very tight with a prominant green ribbon in his tale & (possibly) an 'L' plate on me!!!

Cheers - and be very proud of yourselves!:D
