. . . and it was FAB.

Stayed in walk . . . underneaths were definitely sore and I had to keep readjusting and putting my leg on made some things twang a little in the pelvic region . . . oh, and getting off caused some twanging too, but it felt so wonderful to be sitting on my beautiful horse again . . . and given that I wasn't wearing spurs or carrying a schooling whip, he did actually respond when I put my leg on and soften and bend.

So . . . watch this space. The plan is to work up to me taking him to some winter dressage (unaffiliated) while the friend who has been riding him does some indoor jumping with him until the next eventing season. By next year, I'd like to think about maybe jumping

Congratulations on being back in the saddle.

Paula

Thank you - it felt fantastic. It's been a long 8 weeks recuperating and the doctor was actually right. I thought I could push it and get back on by week 4 . . . how wrong was I?

Oh, and the work my friend has done with The GreyDonk has helped enormously - he is so much stronger now - so lovely that we're both now back in work together :).

Great to hear you're back in action and your first ride went well. :)

Thank you - first ride actually couldn't have gone any better. He was tired because Z had schooled him first (and therefore taken the edge off him), but not so tired he couldn't give me some nice work. All I wanted from today was to have a sit and see how we both felt . . . he felt fab and I didn't feel broken - so result!

P

Be careful - if you are in pain and can't sit comfortably.....you will be unbalanced and that won't help GreyDonk over time.

You may need some more time to heal.

I am taking it slow, I promise. Two minutes in walk only. You are right - I don't want to put GD's rehab back any . . . but Z rides him five days a week, I'm just having a little sit at this point.

And . . . I don't WANT any more time to heal dammit (stamps feet, clenches fists and holds breath until face turns blue) . . . I want to be better NOW! ;).

Horsebox coming at the end of this week :D

Tho BF on field rest till vet comes on Thurs  hopefully nothing too major, but going to keep us 'paddock bound' for a couple of weeks :(

Woman we need to get this sorted . . . Kal is broken, I'm broken and now BF is not right. The fates are against us . . . fingers crossed that the BF recovers well and you can get over to ours for a lovely autumnal hack.

Swimming, pilates, core strength.....get the muscles round your broken bones good and strong again.

Plenty you can do as part of your rehab ;)

Yay congrats and be sure to take it slow! I am now broken too so going to be a fair while before I am back up there :-( not that I couldn't as its only an arm but don't want to fall off again!

Um, pretty sure not? What were you watching?

P

I was watching H&C tv, and there was some eventers challenge thingy from Vale View.
There was a grey horse called PolarSkye competing, and the name rang a bell, but not being a terribly regular poster on here, it took me a while to make the connection.
Could be some other random person, but I thought the name was quite unusual :)
