So, although a little sore, I got on Toby today. I was nervous to say the least!
I just walked round the menage, had a few bursts of trot and walked over some poles that where down. I tried to think about now rather than what if.

I just don't want to be someone who becomes scared of riding their horse! I have my normal lesson booked on Tuesday, and I know my instructor will help me a lot.

Has anyone ever tried those books/DVDs about riding with confidence? Wondering whether I should try them?

Thanks Lx

we've all been in your shoes one way or another with our horses. I know I have so I hope you don't feel your alone. There used to be a good thread on here about confidence but it's dropped off the radar.

Well done :-) Been there, when you think your hearts gonnae jump out your chest with nerves after getting on, if youve got a good instructor it'll help loads. I had NLP after an incident a good few years ago and it was great, the what ifs can really mess with your head, but it sounds like your working through it :-)

Well done. There's an old saying " the longest journey starts with a single step" keep it up and each day should be a little easier.

So far I've managed to block out the 'what ifs' reasonably well. However after my recent fall I am aware that the level of background anxiety has increased. I'm just hoping that nothing happens to add to it as I'm not sure how robust my blocking out is very robust anymore.
