A chance meeting at Olympia led me to discover that my daughters first pony is still alive and well.

Mickey is a 10.0hh shetland pony who came to us in his early 20's when my daughter was just 3. We had him on loan for 5 1/2 years and were heart broken when we had to return him. Not only was he my daughters companion but he looked after my 16.3 Tb called Sam and the two were inseperable. We all adored him. Sam passed to the pasture in the sky a few years ago.

My daughter and I went over to visit Mickey today and I have to say that I shed a little tear when I saw him as I was so pleased to see him. He is well into his late 30's now with alot more grey hair and a few less teeth but otherwise healthy.

The photos in my siggy are of then and now ( Don't know how to put piccys on without changing signature) On leaving I did wonder if it would be possible for us to have Mickey once again to end his days in luxury with us, a thought I can't get out of my head lol

That is amazing. I'm lucky I know where all my old ponies are (bar one) but I'm only 16 so they are all still with the home we sold them to!
Thats amazing and it looks like he recognises you!

aww,how lovely for you to see him again.that was a lucky chance meeting!!do you think they would let you have him back?at least you know where he is.

had this a little while ago my beloved pony of so many years ago came home to us this year at 27 to live out his days in luxury. although he did come back a very poorly old looking boy and now is ridden reguarly by the kids on the yard, spent the whole summer at pc and going to shows and has even been hunting this winter! not quite the poor old boy i cried my eyes out for when i met him again after all those years! i couldnt sleep untill i got him home, my OH went and picked him up for me in the end. he was my first competition pony i got him for my 10th birthday and he went out on permament loan when i left home and went to uni. Only he didnt stay in that home he got passed on and on through many homes over the years. luckily the last home he was in when we finally traced him the girl had just outgrown him and they were wondering what they should do with him, just hanging on to him because they didnt kno wot else to do, when my OH explained the situation they gave him straight back to us, and still come to visit occasionally. He is now living the life of riley, he taught me so much and gave me so much joy foor many years, I feel I owe it to him to look after him in his old age. And yes he did recognise me after all those years, looked up and whinnied the moment i walked into his field, instantly made me cry!

No worries temsik. The loveable little chap hasn;t been out of my mind since the visit so I guess I'll be making a call!!

And I do believe he recognised us, he was giving us kisses like we taught him too.....................

They say there is no such thing as coincidence and I do beleive that. A client of ours went on an open day to the Riding for Disabled down nr a large prison, I think is down london way, but a long way from where we live. She was walking round and admiring the many horses ponies there, and happened to notice a name sign that said "Chantelle", by chance there was a groom standing by, and she said "Oh I had a pony called that as a child" and he said "yeah, sadly this one is looking for a home as she is too old to do the work here" and she asked to see her and sure enough it was the same mare. So it was arranged that she would take come back and collect her, she is now well in her 30s and living at the farm where she started her life!!
These special happening things make life worthwhile.
