Well, those who knew my old dog's love of our bed at night would be shocked to hear that little Harvey slept downstairs in his basket inside the dog crate. He had a bowl of water and his kong wubba for company.

We were deciding what to do with him when he just climbed in his basket, snuggled himself under the blanket and went to sleep. Decided that if he was happy to sleep alone, then perhaps we should encourage that independence (hopefully helping to alleviate separation anxiety if we always keep him with us now).

He slept very well, although he was only left for five hours. Not a peep was heard. When I came down to him this morning he was lying in his bed but awake. I lifted him straight outside to the toilet where he produced two wees and two poohs.

Clever little puppy. He's had a little play and eaten all of his breakfast. He's now resting for half an hour, to let his food go down, in the crate whilst I pop out to see to the horses.

All is good so far. Dog crates are the bees knees. The first 20 hours already seem easier than when I had Jasper as a pup, without one.

congratulations! Lets hope he quiet nights continue

Ahh bless him!! what a clever pup. I think i was lucky with Daisy she was a very easy pup to train, the house guest earlier this week was not quite as easy!
Think youve got a gud un!!

Whizz is a fab name for a Springer/Collie cross as I would imagine all she ever does is Whizz about.

I don't do milk recording as a profession. I wouldn't mind getting paid though. We're dairy farmers and my in-laws are too tight to pay for NMR to do it for them when they have me on hand.

Ah i see! It pays quite well and i get loads of free time to play ponies.
Whizz is actually springer x cocker. and yes she does Whizz around rather a lot.
Looking forward to seeing more pics of your new addition

Sorry, I meant springer/cocker. No idea why I typed collie.

Springers and Cockers are both mad as a box of frogs. I imagine Whizz is doubly energetic. I know of another Sprocker. He's lovely.

I have an aversion to milk. Don't touch the stuff myself and can't abide the smell. Thankfully I don't get too much on me when doing our own herd.

I would imagine it's the farmers (or some of them) which can make your job more frustrating.

Oh yes how right you are!! No sense of urgency, dont start on time etc etc. Luckily i have been doing it so long i can sort out the best from the worst and only do the ones i enjoy
