As some of you will know, I have a big grey ned, who I bought as a fat, unfit project in January. He has had some issues - we required remedial hacking lessons & loading for dummies and he has a rear in him. Oh, he can be nappy too, but all dealable with eventually. He's working now at elementary at home & I have just affiliated him BSJA.
Anyway I bought him from Cheshire. Turns out he used to be in Selby (about 5 miles from me). I was at a show a few months ago & a girl recognised him & started talking to me about him, saying he was nappy & not very careful SJ etc & asking me how much I paid for him
Obviously I passed it off & carried on.
Today, there was a lady teaching on our yard and she came over as Yogi had got loose. Any way, turns out he used to belong to a client of hers & she started off on a list of what was wrong with him. Rears, won't hack, was totally awful for her client etc, wouldn't amount to anything, had sarcoids, oh and a heart murmur, was bought for a lot of money and was sold for peanuts. Oh and how much did I pay for him?
SO I was a bit
I don't think she meant to be rude but FFS - he's my horse - I didn't ASK her for her opinion on what he was like before I had him. I maybe mentioned that he was a bit nappy but sheesh - she left me feeling really negative about a horse I have been working really hard on and just starting to feel good about.
I am cross at her, but more cross that it has made me feel negative about my horse
All this despite some really good comments from my instructor at the weekend & a good result in his first ridden hunter show.
Why is it that we remember negative things far quicker than positive ones?
Someone give me a kick up the arse please!
