I think a left something down at my old yard, it's value is around £60 and was farly new when I left.

I left around 4 months ago, on good terms but I did say however that I would go back if I got another horse. However there is a yard a lot closer half the price, and with some added extras, so I know wouldn't be going back.

Do you think it would it be cheeky asking for it back, it's a pretty useful item and could possibly have been claimed by now

Intrigued! What is the item?

I'd ask for it back if it was me, saying that I'd forgotten I'd left it there and really need it now, but it depends on what it is as they may think you are mad for forgetting an everyday item!

Plus someone may have claimed it and deny all knowledge of it ever being yours!

It's a wheelbarrow,

Everyone is really lovely, and each got their own, I was poorly at the time so took so time out from horses over the summer, and now going back into it. Went up to mums (where I stored everything) to clean tack and move some things to the new yard, and then I remembered that I didn't have it.

Do you just THINK that's where you left it or do you KNOW that's where it is ? All the difference in the world as to how you approach it. Gently, gently or just go & fetch it.

I yeah it's defo at the yard, I loaded it into the jeep, but took it back out again as didnt fit with the rugs and other stuff, so I know it's there.

Everyone did have their own barrow but if one got broken or a new livery came (don't think one has) then it could poss be claimed then. But also the liveries are pretty good so hoping they would of texted me first.

I left a lot of stuff at my friends yard when I moved. most of it I asked for back as and when I needed it. the two things I didn't was a wheelbarrow and some jumps. I only asked for stuff I new wasn't being used.

If your wheelbarrow is one of many on the yard (friend only had my one at the time) then I would ask if you can have it back.

This is OK if you can afford to let it be that way ie giving your property away effectively,is their need is greater than yours.

Well I do need it really as got to kit out new horse, my stuff just won't fit,so it would be an real pain if I don't have it back.

Going to text yo this morning and see what the deal is, or should I just turn up?

I'm passing later so it would save me a trip if it's sorted this morning

Just spoke to one of the liveries, they say it's been gone for a while, drat!

if everyone is as friendly as you say, just go over to collect it - it's yours, you don't need to ask for it back! Use it as an opportunity to "catch up" with your old friends, tell them what a numpty you were to leave it, and how much you are looking forward to having horses again. Unless YOU look, you won't know if it is there. Noone else will be as diligent about looking for it as you - it's no skin off their noses if it stays "lost" ;)

It's a small yard so not hard to tell who's is who's only 4 liveries or so.

So went out a brought another one this one in funky purple! It's one of those things a real pain to replace but if it's gone it's gone. I wouldn't of thought it would be on purpose but it more than likely been claimed some where along the lines.

I used some of birthday money up, so not really out of pocket so to speak.

Well I say my birthday, it's not for 2 weeks and I'm having my new boy delivered on my birthday and he's my present!!!

Brilliant news about you getting a horse for your birthday - how fab! I got one on loan as a surprise on my 15th! Shame about your old wheelbarrow. I would still go up yourself and have a quick check. I once left a leather headcollar at one yard, that disappeard immediately I felt it was bit rude!!!! Grrrr

TBH if I had a livery who didn't come and collect something for months, I would assume that they didn't want it really. I would ask them to come and collect it if I knew it was theirs. Could it be that YO didn't know it was yours, and just assumed it was someone else's if they saw someone else use it?

I'm at the other end of the scale - I have been saving a haybar for over three years in the hope that an ex-livery comes to collect it. It is a pain in the neck as it takes up so much storage room (I put it in the barn to keep it clean and prevent it blowing away - could your YO have put your barrow somewhere away from other people's stuff for the same reason?) I have let the ex livery know its here to be collected a few times, and am now at the point where I feel I may as well ebay it!

We at somebody leave 4 stable mats at our yard, they were moving to somewhere that already had them. 3 years later they then wanted them back! I think it was abit cheeky of them really. 3 years is along time and they kind of used the yard as storage. They booked a time to come and collect them (we have electric gates and had changed code and didnt want them knowing it). They never turned up in the end. about £100 worth of mat just left
