In fact, I know I do!!! My husband says I smell like horse pee 😆

I do the horses in the morning, straw beds don't help but that's what I have!

I've tried big beds, small beds, beds with pellets underneath.

My current method is taking the dirty bedding out daily, lifting the beds and disinfecting. I then pull the bed down when they come in.

I have a shower when I get home, wear gloves. In an eve I have a total change of clothes and put my waist length hair in a snood to keep the smells of it but apparently I still smell!!!

Any tips to save me washing my hair twice a day!!
 
I use a vapour spray from gold label which is supposed to be for the dust and is mostly eucalyptus and lavender.... Smells lovely. Are you sure you smell that bad???
I deep littered straw all winter and I dont think I smelt that bad and my OH is new to horses and a sensitive city boy 😆
 
I swear my husband is a bloodhound! He's super, super sensitive to smells.... and it doesn't half make you self conscious! I've just ordered a shower cap to try 😆.
He did say he's noticed it much more since I've had my youngster
 
Shower cap really helps. I use pellets under a straw bed in winter and always wear a shower cap if I’m lifting any wet as that’s the stink!

However, my most important tip would be to remember to take it off before you leave the yard. Don’t forget about it, walk up the high street and do the primary school run in it, until a mum you know points it out (a good 15 min later..). Do not ask me how I know this.
 
Straw beds always make you stink I hated mucking them out when I looked after liveries horses, I wouldn't have straw for my own I only use shavings.

The smell will linger in your hair the only way to get rid of it is wash it I know as I had very long hair when I worked on yards.
 
i feel your pain, straw is the only option for me because one of them is so filthy, and every day i get told i stink - OH is allergic to horses, so if my hair ends up touching his skin for more than 2 mins he comes out in a rash🫣 when i feed in a morning i have a “horsey” coat over the top, hair tucked in and avoid touching them at all so i don’t absolutely honk at work lmao
 
I'm afraid that I have a sense of smell like a bloodhound too, and the aroma of a straw bed clings relentlessly to clothing and hair 🙁. I long ago switched to shavings just because of this. OH didn't complain about the niff, but once away from the stables I could smell it on myself.

I've used the shower cap trick. Once the stink has got to your hair nothing but washing will get it out, so cover yourself up as thoroughly as you can.
 
Tie your hair up in a bun when mucking out . I find this helps with my long hair, the smell doesn’t seem to linger if it’s knotted up in a bun!
 
Only way to massively reduce the smell I’ve found is to deep litter and remove the wet weekly rather than daily. My mare has a really deep straw bed, I remove the poos daily (add fresh straw every couple of days) and on the weekend remove all the wet which is about 3 wheel barrows.

Much quicker and easier to just remove poos daily and wet never comes through. 🙂
 
Can you just take out the worst of the poops daily then do one or two big muck outs per week? If you disturb the pee and move everything around daily it's going to honk. I use straw in Winter but shavings in the Summer as I often have to muck out around shifts so try to eliminate the possibility of stench :) I even leave the shavings wee in until day 2 or 3.

This is what I do and is the way. Take out the back mats, skip out the droppings daily and allow the wet straw to settle at the bottom directly on top of the concrete. The bedding actually has more chance to soak up the wet properly this way and you get more milage from the straw because you're not removing half-saturated bedding. Top up mid week if necessary but usually I only need to top up at the weekend when I remove the wet. The other benefit of this method is that mid-week it just takes a few minutes to skip out and then at the weekend when you have a bit more time you can get all stinky and chuck everything in the wash afterwards.
 
I take out wet once a week, have a bag of pellets under the straw that helps soak up the wee. Skip out during the week and then at the weekend bed goes up and wet comes out and mats get washed then pellets in bed down another straw bale in and set up for the week.

Though you need a nice thick bed for this set up.
 
Pop on a disposable overalls and food grade hair net. Re use them. They are a great barrier for all sorts of smelly environments and are not heavy to wear.

ETA: And are really handy when clipping.
