....to never do PC Area HT
I don't know if any of you remember but this time last year I broke my arm whilst doign the XC at Area HT and that was me out untill the end of september.
Well twelve months later, we decide to give it another go and today was that day. We walked to course yesterday and it looked good and even though id jumped most of it before, it still asked a few questions but definately not undoable.
So after a 5.15am wake up call
we set off to Kelsall and got there with plenty of time. So, started our warm up regime of lunging for 20mins and then getting on and he was going really well so was thinking we could do a half decent test. Now, anyone who knows Kelsall, knows that there is not a flat bit of ground at the venue and, with 10minutes to go before we went in, Shrimps stumbles very slightly trotting downhill and carries on lame. I pulled up immediately and he walks on ok so trotted a little bit again, still lame. Swore quite loudly but luckily no one was close enough to hear me!
Got off and walked up to mum and we then trotted him up in hand, still lame and heat started to develop. Back at the lorry, mum thought he might have a stone stuck under his wedges so we cleared them out, trotted him up again 3 times and he was sound. So decided to get back on and just see what he was like. No good
Packed up and came home.
We're not sure what it is but we've cold hosed, bandaged and at the moment he's got a magnectic boot on so shall see what he's like tomorrow. If we cant fathom out what it is, will get the vet out on tuesday.
Bloody typical isnt it?! As soon as the weather clears up my horse breaks! I dont really want another summer of being unable to ride so I hope its not too serious but what will be, will be.
Hmmm....
