So just got back from trying out a horse for a possible horse share.
Thankfully just got a satnav for my birthday and so was able to find the yard ok, although got a bit confused when it said ''you have reached your destination'' right next to a field! Silly satnav
Pulled up to the yard and was soo nervous! Yard was totally spotless and just has everything
acres of land, lovely school, huge stables, walker, solarium, more like 3 huge tack rooms as opposed to just one! So, needless to say i felt totally out of place and was just thinking everyone here must be scary/pro/comp riders or something!
Couldn't be more wrong though
the grooms kindly pointed me towards the mares stable and her owner was there. Shes lovely and weirdly she also used to go to essex uni
Said hello to the mare who was lovely! About 15.2/3hh, warmblood cross, pretty much grey now but apparently used to be skewbald (iron grey/grey) but has faded as shes 17. She has the sweetest temperment, happily stood there to be tacked up and started trying to groom me
Her owner rode her first to warm her up and she looked perfectly sane so i felt ok to have a go myself. She's a lovely schoolmaster type which is perfect for me as i have a lot of issues still to work on
Didn't put a hoof wrong other than getting a bit fast at points but i know that this is due to me being tense as shes quite sensitive to the seat. Then owner put a jump up and she popped her over it a few times. Then shock horror i braved having a jump on her (i havn't jumped since easter!). She jumped perfectly but i seem to have forgotten how to jump entirely so this could need some work
will definatly be finding an instructor!
So owner seemed happy enough and just need to get back to her about days etc and get to know her more
celebrations all round for reading this far
